Maintenance of Certification: THE PSYCHIATRY RECERTIFICATION COURSE Friday and Saturday, January 18 19, 2019 CHILD AND ADOLESCENT RECERTIFICATION COURSE Sunday, January 20, 2019 8:00am 6:00pm Registration 7:30am Course Directors: Andrea J. Weiss, MD and David Myland Kaufman, MD Course Description These preeminent intensive courses are for psychiatrists preparing for the Maintenance of Certification (Recertification) examinations. They present up-to-date, evidence-based treatments for psychiatric and neuropsychiatric disorders, emphasizing clinical matters and advances in diagnosis and treatment. What Makes These Courses Unique These courses use a question-and-answer format via an anonymous electronic audience response system. They engage the attendee while comprehensively reviewing topics in psychiatry most relevant to the examination. They also provide a clinical review and update for psychiatrists in practice. This rigorous process draws the participants into the learning process and heightens their mastery of the subjects. The experienced, practical, and goal-directed faculty will review responses and reinforce correct answers utilizing discussions and explanations. They will emphasize subjects that are critical, complicated, or otherwise important, and not belabor the obvious nor dwell on the esoteric. Educational Materials Attendees will receive both an extensive syllabus and a separate question book. Educational Objectives and Expected Outcome These courses will prepare attendees to pass their Maintenance of Certification (Recertification) examination. They also provide an update of how to diagnose and treat patients who present with psychiatric disorders. Attendees will become aware of evidence-based treatments of psychiatric disorders to perform best practices. Accreditation Statement Albert Einstein College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Clinical Neurology and Psychiatry for Psychiatrists: CERTIFICATION BOARD REVIEW Friday Tuesday, July 26-30, 2019 8:00am 6:00pm Registration 7:30am Course Directors: David Myland Kaufman, MD and Andrea J. Weiss, MD Course Description Clinical Neurology and Psychiatry for Psychiatrists (CNPP) is the most important, intensive, dynamic five-day review course. Offered for over 47 years, it has been revamped for the new ABPN certification format. Using an anonymous audience response system, CNPP uses a question and answer format combined with didactics to engage the learner and comprehensively review topics in neurology and psychiatry most relevant to the revised exam. CNPP stresses the clinical features, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. Topics include dementia from a variety of illnesses; aphasia, anosognosia and other perceptual disorders; TBI, seizure disorders, antiepileptic drugs, neurotransmitters, neuroanatomy, and neurological testing, including CT, MRI, EEG and lumbar puncture. The course also reviews expectable changes and illnesses of childhood and old age. The interactive presentations, discussions and explanations will stress the main areas of psychiatry: basic science, clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment. Questions using audio, visual, and written vignettes are designed to familiarize participants with the new format. An experienced and well-informed faculty will discuss the examination format, process, and testtaking strategies, and offer helpful insights throughout the course. The faculty will emphasize subjects that are critical, complicated, or otherwise important. They will not belabor the obvious nor dwell on the esoteric. Educational Materials Attendees will receive syllabi upon check-in and the newest edition of Dr. David M. Kaufman s Clinical Neurology for Psychiatrists (8th edition, Elsevier), mailed prior to the course, for early reading. Educational Objectives and Expected Outcome CNPP will prepare attendees for the new ABPN CERTIFICATION examination and offer a review of modern neurology and psychiatry. Attendees will improve their diagnostic skills, be brought up-todate, and guided toward best practices. Accreditation Statement Albert Einstein College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation Albert Einstein College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 41 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
