Dr. Ann Haiden,DO What Health Challenge Type are You? zes You can tell that something is not right. But what? I had that same question in 2004. I searched every thing I could. I did every test I could. Looking for answers. My symptoms were so widespread. From my brain to my gut, to my nerves. I had inflammation and skin rashes. I was a mess. When I discovered Functional Medicine I finally had the tools for it to all make sense. So I could restore my health. You see, even as a doctor I never learned how to look for things like these quizzes will help you start to look for things. I had multiple health challenges. Just like many of my patients do. And maybe you do, too. What health Challenge type (or types) are you?

Thyroid & Energy Thyroid hormone conditions are rampant. Often it is autoimmune related. But many things, including the energy making mitochondria, can also contribute to low energy. They all have to be addressed. Do you feel like you never have as much energy as others? Do you fatigue easily with exercise? Is it hard to recuperate? Have you gained weight for no reason? Has your hair gotten more brittle, fine, or coarse? Is it falling out? Is your TSH above 1.5? Are your thyroid autoimmunity markers high? Do you have muscle cramping, pains or twitching? Is your Vitamin B12 level less than 400? Do your wake up unrefreshed? Do you get 8 to 9 hours of sleep? Do you have gut issues? Have you had any chemical, mold, or environmental exposures? Are you under a lot of stress? Do you have problems tolerating mild stress? Do you feel tired but wired? Have you lost weight for no reason? What kind of diet do you eat? Regular, vegetarian, vegan, Paleo, low carb? Do you get headaches or migraines? Do you have unusual vision problems or hearing problems? Do you struggle with depression or emotional lability?

Gut Issues The gut is home to trillions of bacteria. Problems in the gut can involve not only bowel symptoms, but also leaky gut, immune & nervous system, brain health, toxin removal problems, and so much more. Do you have constipation, diarrhea, or both? Bloating or cramping? Do you have belching, acid reflux, coughing, or atypical asthma? Are there foods that cause digestive symptoms when you eat? Does it seem like you have all sorts of unrelated symptoms after eating? Do you have skin rashes or itching? Have you ever been tested for Celiac disease? Are you taking acid blockers or reflux medication? Did your symptoms start after travelling? Have you travelled a lot? Have you gained or lost weight for no reason? Is it hard to lose or gain weight? Have you taken a lot of antibiotics as a child or adult? Do you take probiotics? Do you have a good or a bad reaction to them? * Does eating fiber and a lot of vegetables, or garlic and onions, bother you? Do you have brain fog, especially after eating? Do you have Diabetes? Thyroid problems? PCOS? Hormone imbalances? Has the color or pattern of your fingernails changed? Do they look healthy? Do you struggle with depression or anxiety?
