Your outfit has an incident that is very sexy for the media, your dazed looking spokesperson is muttering something and looking teary eyed as she preps to give the 15 th interview in 2 hours.! # 3. After a participant fatality, several journalists report that one of the staff centrally involved in the event had an extensive police record. You thought you d vetted your staff.! # 4. In mid crisis, you are utilizing your FB page well to disseminate information to stakeholders. Unfortunately, others are posting highly critical opinions on your wall at the same time.! # 5. One week after a shore based field trip fatality, the vendor/outfitter you hired (Who has already lost its license as a result of the event) posts a video on YouTube reviewing each step of the event (and portraying their actions favorably). The family of the victim has named both your organization and the vendor in a lawsuit.!

Up-to-date routine immunizations, including tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chickenpox) and influenza, are important for all international travelers, regardless of destination. For those age 65 and older and persons with chronic medical conditions, pneumococcal vaccine is also important. (See: Routine Immunizations - Worldwide.) Country-Specific Immunizations Immunization Comments Hepatitis A Two-dose series recommended for all travelers to Senegal. The prevalence of hepatitis A is high. Hepatitis B Three-dose series. Vaccine recommended for all unvaccinated people. The prevalence of hepatitis B in Senegal is high. Hepatitis A /Hepatitis B also available in a combined vaccine. Meningococcal (meningitis) vaccine Seasonal: December-June. Single-dose with booster in three years. Tetravalent or trivalent vaccine that includes coverage for the W135 strain is recommended. Rabies If you might be exposed to wild animals or infected domestic animals. Pre-exposure: three-dose series. Post-exposure treatment still required for animal bite or contact. Children are at higher risk than adults. Typhoid One-dose vaccine or oral four-capsule sequence. Yellow fever Recommended for all travelers older than 9 months of age. Single dose- at least 10 days prior to entry. Required if you are arriving from a yellow fever-endemic country (an area where yellow fever is known to be present.) Proof of vaccination is also required for travelers who have been in transit for more than 12 hours in an airport located in an endemic country. (See ijet advice "Yellow Fever Endemic Zones.") Polio Adult polio booster or, if necessary, initial immunization series is recommended. Cases of polio continue to be reported from Africa. In addition to vaccines, prescription medications can be important. Disease Comments Traveler's diarrhea (TD) Travelers can carry an antibiotic to be used in case traveler's diarrhea develops, or in some cases, as prophylaxis against traveler's diarrhea. A quinolone antibiotic - such as ciprofloxacin - or azithromycin or rifaximin is generally prescribed. Check with your healthcare provider. Malaria All travelers should take prescription medication (doxycycline, Malarone or mefloquine) to prevent malaria. (See ijet advice "Malaria Information for Senegal.") You can protect yourself from other diseases by avoiding insect bites, especially mosquito bites, and by making prudent food and beverage choices.
