Page 2 President s Message VOLUME 8, ISSUE 2 We have a lot going on in the CFAAA right now and we are always looking for more volunteers to help with the various activities. Our fundraiser of brick selling is ongoing and profits will go towards the memorial statue at the new Training Center. It is hoped that the statue will be available by July. But we still have many more bricks to sell for this to become a reality. The TCFAAA Chiefs Forum is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2 in Colleyville. This is a forum where chiefs from various fire departments come together to talk about their department and their alumni association. The RCFAAA will award a $1500 scholarship this year to an RFD dependent who is attending college. Our committee consists of David Gibbs, Rick Wilder, Gary Reim and Bob Schneider. We should hear of a winner in April. The annual Richardson Trash Bash will be held on Saturday April 6. This year we would like two CFAAA members to help with: 1) Coordinating a team interested keeping their community clean. The RCFAAA will be assigned a City park or location and we will be responsible for clearing that area of litter that day, and 2) For the first time we are being asked to host a table during the celebration where we can offer citizens educational information about our group. If you are interested in leading either the trash collection or booth, please let me know. The CFA class is scheduled to begin March 7. We are also looking for a volunteer to oversee the Mentor Program. This will involve you pairing a mentor with a class member. Shouldn't take any time at all. We always look forward to seeing our members become involved in the opportunities that arise. Debbie Conard

CPR/AED/First Aid Update Page 3 Group One is now approved to teach classes and Group Two is well underway with their training. By Feb 23rd they will have completed CPR and First aid training and be ready to enroll in the final phase with the Core Instructor Course. Completion date is TBD but the final test will be teaching a class so we may seek help from our members to fill spaces. Stay tuned! Current equipment on hand is 4 new adult manikins, 4 baby manikins, 2 AED with the hopes of obtaining 2 more, and required supplies to complete CPR and first aid training. CFA Class 18 Volunteers Needed The CFA Class 18 starts March 7th. We need volunteer facilitators for each night of the class. First come first served type of sign up. No more than 4 total. On the last night, the Live Burn, we need 5 people. The schedule will be posted in the newsletter as soon as we get it. A photographer position is on the sign-up sheet. If you want to the photographer, please sign up for that position. Basic Tasks: Arrive between 5:45/6:00. Set up tables. Arrange chairs. Make ice tea. Set out plates, napkins, cups, etc. Arrange food when it arrives. Clean area if it gets messy during serving, etc. Keep an eye on the tea, water usage and make more tea as needed. Hand out literature as needed during class. After class clean up the room and kitchen and take the trash out to the dumpster. On bunker gear nights, help class members with gear. Ask Alicia if you have any questions. 214-415-9811. We are also looking for a volunteer to oversee the Mentor Program. This will involve you pairing a mentor with a class member. Richardson Trash Bash April 6th Steve Jennings is the lead on this project. If you are interested in helping out, see Steve. Alicia Marshall will man the information booth 10:30-11:30 a.m. Closet Clean-out February 24th The Training Center closet needs to be cleaned and organized before the CFA classes start. We want to do it Sunday, February 24 th, probably around 2 p.m.. If you want to assist, let Alicia Marshall know, 214-415-9811.
