Hiram Clarke Community Festival October 22, 2016 Noon 6pm Townwood Park, Houston Vendor Deadline: August 5, 2016

What is the Hiram Clarke Community Festival? Throughout Texas, many low-income communities are stuck in a cycle of poverty because they re either uninformed (i.e. don t know the resources that are available to them), ill informed (i.e. they have misconceptions about what it takes to use certain resources), or lack the financial resources to do anything about their situation. The mission of Continuing Progression Center is to strengthen these low-income communities by hosting events that are designed to expose resources and educate the children and adults in those communities. We believe that these events will help them progress further academically, educationally and financially ultimately breaking the cycle of poverty and mis-education. One such event is Hiram Clarke Community Festival (HCCF) - an annual event targeting the residents of Hiram Clarke - a low-income, multicultural community in South Houston. The goal of HCCF is to use miniworkshops and vendor booths to showcase the various businesses and resources available to residents of Hiram Clarke area. Examples of mini-workshops include how to apply for college, improve your credit, prepare a will, start your own business, receive bill pay assistance, etc. At the same time, we hope to celebrate the valuable contributions of members and leaders in the community by hosting fun events like community awards, a talent show, and feature local food trucks and restaurants. HCCF will span 6 hours and 730,000 square feet making it the largest community festival ever held in the South Houston area. What s in it for you? Hiram Clarke is Houston s best-kept secret. It is a fast growing, highly diverse, yet financially stable community making it perfect for businesses looking to grow and attract multicultural customers with strong buying power. Here are a few fun facts: Faster growing population: The recent population of Hiram Clarke has grown 10%, outpacing Houston s population growth by 2 percentage points. Easier target area: With nearly 200,000 residents, Hiram Clarke accounts for nearly 10% of Houston s total population. More financially stable: 65% of Hiram Clarke residents are homeowners vs. 45% for Houston. Greater buying power: The average annual household Income of a Hiram Clarke resident is $50k vs $43k for Houston. Our Mission is to expose the residents of Hiram Clarke to the resources available to them so they are empowered to succeed... Simply put, HCCF will provide your business with a single point of access to more than 3,000 Houstonians and the unique opportunity to increase your presence and brand awareness with a key, growing consumer base with strong buying power. Additionally, since HCCF is a non-profit, your financial contributions may be tax-deductible. Demographics We expect over 3,000 members of the community to attend which consists of 41% African American, 36% Hispanic, 15% Caucasian, 6% Asian and 1% Other. Among those over 18, less than 30% are college-educated.

Our Mission The mission of the Hiram Clarke Festival is to expose the residents of Hiram Clarke to the various businesses and resources available to them so they are encouraged, equipped and empowered to succeed educationally, academically, and financially. About CPC Continuing Progression Center (CPC) is a 7 year-old nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the economic condition of families living in at-risk areas in Dallas and Houston, Texas. Through CPC, youth will be exposed to new and exciting things in the arts, sports and education in an effort to provide positive influence to an at-risk segment of our population. For adults, CPC activities will equip them with the skills necessary to progress further educationally, academically and financially. And finally, for families CPC will equip them with the tools necessary to begin and maintain strong marriages. This will all be done through a strategic group of activities and programs that will encourage, equip and empower youth and adults in the following ways: ENCOURAGE youth through programs and activities that expose them to ideas, careers and experiences beyond their normal scope of experiences and thought in an effort to push their thinking, broaden their imagination, build their confidence in their future, and improve their self-esteem. EQUIP youth mentally and physically with the tools necessary to be successful in whatever career path they choose. Likewise equip adults mentally with the tools necessary to improve their current career path and income. EMPOWER youth to move forward with the knowledge and experiences they ve attained to become positive game-changers in their families, community, and in this great nation. Likewise empower adults to move forward with the knowledge they ve attained to become better parents and sustain a better household.
