What is Glutathione and where do we get it ASAP? GLUTATHIONE is composted of three amino acids - cysteine, glycine, and glutamate and the most important molecule you need to stay healthy and prevent aging, cancer, heart disease, dementia and more, and necessary to treat everything from autism to Alzheimer s disease. It is called the Mother of Antioxidants. The good news is that your body produces its own glutathione. The bad news is that toxins from poor diet pollution, toxins medications, stress, trauma, aging, infections and radiation all deplete your glutathione. This leaves you susceptible to unrestrained cell disintegration from oxidative stress, free radicals, infections and cancer. And your liver gets overloaded and damaged, making it unable to do its job of detoxification http://drhyman.com/blog/2010/05/12/what-is-glutathione-and-how-do-i-get-moreof-it/
Dr. Hyman The secret of glutathione is the sulfur (SH) chemical groups it contains. Sulfur is a sticky, smelly molecule. It acts like fly paper and all the bad things in the body stick onto it, including free radicals and toxins like mercury and other heavy metals. Normally glutathione is recycled in the body except when the toxic load becomes too great. Glutathione (GSH) deficiency causes cells to be more vulnerable to oxidative stress Dr. Axe.
STRESS Cortisol and insulin are like stress-response sisters, and high cortisol states will also contribute to insulin resistance, or high insulin and high sugar while the cells, themselves, are starving. Insulin protects fat storage (inhibits lypolisis), and fat cells secrete their own inflammatory signals in addition to aromatizing testosterone to estradiol contributing to states of estrogen dominance, while also increasing DHEA and androgens to fuel that process (as well as acne, hair growth, and agitation). Once inflammation is active, it is highly self-perpetuating. These inflammatory cytokines travel throughout the body causing oxidative stress to the fragile machinery of the tissues and mitochondria, specifically.
Affected Organs Brain: inflammation serves to shunt the use of tryptophan toward production of anxiety-provoking chemicals like quinolinate, instead of toward serotonin and melatonin.
