HCE PARTYLINE Oconto County Association for Home & Community Education We re on the Web: http://oconto.uwex.edu/ family-living-program/homeand-community-education/ Spring/Summer 2017 201720172017 Dear HCE Members, I need to apologize for not getting a newsletter out sooner. With Mother Nature and a few serious flu bugs all energy went down the drain. But I am now up and running. The President Activity Day was the only Tuesday in January we didn t have a snow storm. Twenty-five members enjoyed Steve Peterson, a Civil War historian. Stitches of Love was held on February 8 th at the Pensaukee Town Hall, with an informal Executive Board meeting. Not enough members for a meeting. On March 8 th, twenty-seven members went to see the Cheese Judging in Green Bay. Thanks to Margaret Lowery s son Ken. We had a fun day. 2000+ cheeses, butter, and yogurt. The program by Professor Kalgren on Abe Lincoln was held on March 21 st. This is always very interesting. April 20 th, 9:30, Wells Fargo Bank, Gillett. Potluck lunch, Hearing Loss is our lesson. The Spring Banquet was held May 2 nd. So the newsletter is for April and May, with June reminders. Hope to see you at our meetings. Sincerely, Joy Campshure HCE President

BOOKS R 4 U HELP HELP! We are in need of members to sew book bags. I have about 200 ready to sew. So for now, we do not need any material for book bags. In 2016 we gave out 140 student bags and 12 teacher bags. So we are really set if we can get them sewn. I am running out of storage for any more now. As always, we can use slippers, hats, and cards for book markers. Everyone is happy to receive these items. REMINDER The June 22 nd picnic was not included in the 2017 program schedule. So mark your calendar for June 22 nd, 2017. This is a potluck lunch at 11:30 AM at the home of Joy Campshure, County President. Lemonade, plates, and silverware will be provided. Come and have a good time rain or shine. Brushes, combs, rollers, pins, clips, ribbons, curling irons, blow dryers, and things you use. Nail polish, files, clippers, remover, cotton balls, or any other items that you use. You can bring these items to our monthly meeting in Gillett at the Bank. Joy, Arlene, and myself made a trip to the Nicaragua Warehouse to drop off a van load of items that we had collected. Also have made about 100 quilt-lets to be sent to the different clinics for use. Thanks to all that brought items. Happy Holidays! International, Ruth Dehne
