BACKGROUND Hardly a day goes by without radio, TV or press coverage of a mental health related issue bereavement and grief, depression, suicide, bipolar, personality disorders, stress and anxiety related disorders, chronic conditions such as migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, ME, anorexia, bulimia. Asperger s and other autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD, self-harming, alcohol, tobacco and substance abuse. Many of these result from or are exacerbated by Trauma, Anxiety or Stress. They can greatly affect the quality of life but they do not need to be a life sentence.

TRAUMA IS AN INJURY WHICH CAN BE HEALED Northern Ireland has a particular legacy of trauma from the troubles much of it is trans-generational and a great many people remain affected by it. It gives us a unique insight into the problem and an unparalleled opportunity to do something about it not just for ourselves but for every other human being with the same issues. Our goal is to raise awareness of Trauma, Anxiety & Stress and the impact they can have, identify the best methodologies for tackling these issues, become a centre for excellence and a resource for Trauma Recovery. In doing so we hope to aid in the health and wellbeing of people affected by these issues locally, nationally, and internationally. 15% of the NI population have experienced a conflict related mental health condition & the region has one of the highest recorded rates of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the world. 60% of the NI population with mental health problems directly related to the Troubles have not received treatment. - Research by the Commission, May 2017

INTERNATIONAL TRAUMA RECOVERY SUMMIT This Summit Conference is for professionals who deal with trauma and its consequences and anyone else with a particular interest in learning about trauma. It draws together experts from across the world and will bring you up to date with the latest statistics, thinking and healing techniques. We want to spread the word to as many people as possible, so attendance fees are modest. We expect more than 600 delegates for the summit. We can also explore options for staff engagement with arts & cultural organisations, or physical activities that have proven benefits in aiding recovery from Trauma, Anxiety, & Stress; inspiring innovation and creativity in individuals, whilst increasing public awareness of the products and services you provide, simultaneously increasing staff morale. A recent report Thriving at Work: a review of mental health and employers from the Department for Work and Pensions, and the Department of Health, has identified that poor mental health costs the UK economy up to 99bn each year, and up to 300,000 people with mental health problems leave their jobs each year.
