To make our politicians take notice of this huge community support, we re asking GetUp members to. This checklist takes you through organising your electorate s delivery step-by-step. The key: be creative and have fun! Checklist The Essentials! Two weeks before the event (21-27 April) Sign up to be the ABC Champion of your electorate Y petition Start reading through this guide and think about how you d like to deliver your petition The week before the event (28 April - 5 May) Invite your family, friends and pets (!) [see last two pages of this Guide] Contact your RSVPs to let them know the logistics [see Using the Tech Tools ) Inform local media of your event On May 7 Pack a camera We ll send you a media guide and template release in the next fortnight. Keep an eye on your inbox! Arrive at least 15min early (8:45am for a 9am start, Wednesday May 7) Greet and meet people as they arrive, make sure everyone is happy If comfortable, give a short speech about why you want to protect our ABC Give the petition to the reception Take a photo of the group and send to takeaction@getup.org.au On social media use #OurABC

USING THE TECH TOOLS So that you can make you petition delivery as big, bold and exciting as possible, we ve built some tech tools that will help you connect with other GetUp members in your electorate. As an ABC champion for your electorate, you ll be able to see the name, phone number and email address of the people who sign up to your petition delivery. That way you ll be able to make contact with everyone who s signed up to attend, and let them know your plan for the day. Right now, we re only recruiting ABC champions, but in the coming weeks when we ve put out the call for other locals to join your team, it s time to login into MyGetUp. Step 1 Go to the GetUp website: www.getup.org.au and click the link to My GetUp! in the right hand corner. Step 2 If you ve never signed in to My GetUp before, you ll need to create an account by clicking the CREATE PASSWORD button. Follow the instructions to set up your My GetUp! account, and then sign in. Step 3 Now you ve logged into My GetUp, you can view your ABC petition delivery event by clicking the EVENTS tab.

USING THE TECH TOOLS See your attendees details Once you ve clicked on the EVENTS tab, you can see who has responded to your petition delivery and their email address, phone number and of your attendees, this is the best place to go. Make contact with your attendees If you want to email everyone who s coming along to your petition delivery click on the name of your event in MyGetUp. Once you re on the page pictured here, you can email everyone who s signed up. The only thing you need to do is write your message and press send.

ABC PETITION DELIVERY CHECKLIST FOR ABC CHAMPIONS Optional Extras! Make a Facebook event to promote your electorate s petition delivery Make posters and put them on local notice boards Organise ABC-themed dress ups Make Protect Our ABC signs and banners Give your MP an additional ABC gift, some groups are baking cakes, others are handing over a bunch of bananas (B1&B2). It s up to you! Thank you so much for being an ABC champion and organising your team s petition delivery. This campaign has been phenomenal, but delivering it to our politicians is the most important element and it wouldn t be possible without you. We can t wait to see all the beautiful photos, creative stunts and inspiring stories that come out of the events around the nation on May 7. Contact: If you have any problems please contact us: takeaction@getup.org.au (02) 9211 4400 The next two pages are the petition document for you to print!

232,564+ Australians say PROTECT OUR ABC The petition: We call on the Australian Government to keep our public broadcasters fully-funded, free of ads, free for everyone, and free to remain fair and balanced. The ABC and SBS are the only stations that provide not only real news in depth but also real stories, great educational programs, good dramas and uniquely Australian comedy shows Rose, GetUp member GETUP.ORG.AU/OURABC

NOT JUST A PETITION! The broader national campaign: The Save Our ABC campaign has been one of the most viral and popular campaigns in GetUp s history. Although GetUp members have been taking action to support public broadcasters for years, we have seen an explosion of support since the 2013 Federal election. NATIONAL ABC CAMPAIGN DATA 2013/14 21,591 members chipped in to fund and support putting 10,000 bumper stickers on vehicles hiring huge billboards in strategic areas putting impactful ads on the air And now, in the week before budget night, GetUp members are taking the campaign local, bringing it to you - their local MP. On election eve last year, Prime Minister Tony Abbott made a promise to Australia that there d be no cuts to the ABC or SBS under a government he led. Leaked reports reveal that Mr Abbott is poised to go back on his word, by taking a knife to our iconic national broadcaster. With budget night approaching, GetUp members are stepping up en masse to hold Prime Minister Abbott to his word. It is evident that many of your constituents love the ABC, and expect their representative, to stand up and protect the funding of our national broadcasters. We re asking you to represent the community by supporting the ABC! Authorised by Sam Mclean, Getup, L2/104 Commonwealth St Surry Hills NSW
