Hand each student the required resources i.e. complete module 1 with practical demonstration checklist. Question & Answer time Start 9:15 AM Module 1 Equipment Maintenance & WHS Worksheet. Practical 45 min Students will select five (5) pieces of equipment to perform maintenance on. Students will complete a Risk Assessment 10 AM Module 2 Anatomy and Physiology Practical & Instruct a client how to perform 8 basic exercises while explaining & demonstrating o the major movements of the body o the muscles involved, including their action(s) o process of muscle contraction during the exercise o know these exercises: Bench Press/Dumbbell Bench Press Bent over Row/Single arm bent over row Bodyweight Squat Bodyweight Static Lunge Conventional Deadlift Glute Bridge Shoulder Press Prone Bridge Instruct a client how to operate 3 pieces of cardiovascular equipment o Explain and demonstrate how the cardiovascular exercise affects the major body systems
Demonstrate and explain the difference between a concentric and eccentric muscle contraction In preparation students to practice instructing a variety of exercises using teaching cues 11 AM Module 3 Client Orientation, Health Screening and Fitness Appraisal Perform orientations, health screening and risk assessments on clients to determine their readiness to commence exercise. (3) Develop client profiles (including SMART goals) for the clients and conduct fitness testing & a fitness reassessments. Practical & Client scenarios are available if needed In preparation students to: practice completing a screening forms, client profiles and fitness testing on themselves / a friend Students to review Client Scenarios 1,2,3 (Adam, Peter and Calvin) 12 Module 5 Exercise Instruction Practical Prepare 3 fitness programs for three (3) different clients. Instruct each of these three (3) fitness programs Modify the program for the session review Train the client in the modified program In preparation students to: practice writing programs (Cardio, Resistance and Flexibility) have a good understanding of the exercise continuums
1 PM LUNCH 30 min 1:30 PM Module 4 Healthy Eating Practical and Provide healthy eating information and advice to two (2) clients o Obtain the client s current eating habits (food diary), provide referral & advice Client scenarios are available 2:30 PM Module 6 Special Populations Practical Perform health screenings, fitness appraisals & risk assessments, referral letters (if appropriate), programs, revised exercise plans on two (2) clients Client 1: older adult (male over 45 or female over 55) Client 2: female or male old adult from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) groups In preparation students to review screening, referral, testing and programs 3:30 PM TEA BREAK N/A 15 min 3:45 PM Module 7 Group Training Practical
Plan, instruct and evaluate at least three (3) group exercise sessions. Come prepared with three (3) different class ideas. Eg. boxing, stretching/yoga, crossfit Circuit Training Community Program Program to music (for choreography or motivation) The Assessor will co-ordinate the class to instruct group training. NOTE: This may not be from the prepared classes. In preparation students to prepare 3 different classes. 4:45 pm FINISH N/A N/A Question and Answer NOTES: The Day may run ahead/behind schedule by 30 minutes depending on class numbers. It is Recommend that students complete the relevant theory assessments prior to attending the prac day. Clients for the day will be classmates or scenarios All tasks will count toward the logbooks. NOTE: Students will still need to complete the remaining requirements of the logbooks
