NORTHEAST MOOSE ASSOCIATION JANUARY NEWS LETTER 2015 BACK TO BASICS Welcome all to the Northeast Association News Letter!! If you have anything you like to share in this publication please feel free to email mail me at moosenema@charter.net And I will be more then happy to get it in for you. Also please check out this other resource that are available to every Lodge and Chapter in the Northeast and All of New England. www.newenglandmoose.org/moose_association_info/northeast I look forward to be working with ALL of you. Rich

Lodge members and officers working together as a team using the Expired Members kit supplied by Moose International your lodge could qualify for a chance to win a 50 HDTV. ($500.00 Value) Lodge must finish the month with 80% retention rate to be entered into a random drawing for one of 5 TV s to be awarded. Grand Prize is a 60 HDTV (1,000.00 Value) to be awarded in May from a random drawing of lodges that achieved an 80% retention rate for the year, 6% preferred members, and +1 in membership over the April 30, 2014 finish. Campaign runs from Dec 1, 2014 to April 30, 2015

From Behind the Wheel with Territory 1 Manager Scotty Fiske Welcome to the first edition of the Northeast Moose Association newsletter. It is my hope that by using this method of communication that we can get important information out to everyone we can reach of what is going on in the Northeast. This newsletter is open to every lodge to submit their newsletters or activity calendar to let others know what is going on in your lodge with the hope that others will go and enjoy what you have going on in your lodge. There is a lot of news that comes out over the course of any given month that never reaches our membership or our lodges. Did you know we are running a campaign to award a lodge a chance to be drawn in a random drawing for a 50 HDTV if they achieve and 80% retention for the month. I do not have the final tally for the month of Dec. yet. But, I hope to very soon. If we had any lodge achieve the 80% retention for Dec they will be placed in the drawing and the winner will get a 55 HDTV sent to that lodge. Look for the flyer in this edition of the newsletter for more details. It is now 2015. 4 months left to this Moose Year and our going back to Basics Membership Campaign. We had 2 lodges awarded some Moose International Grant Money. They are Springfield VT Lodge 679 and Milton NH Lodge 1298. It does pay to go to the International Convention so if you are looking for free money to upgrade something in your lodge that will help enhance the members overall experience I would suggest you start making plans to attend the next International Convention in Nashville TN July 3-7 2015 to be eligible to receive some of our Grant funds for your lodge. This years Mid Year Conference will be held April 16-19 2015 at the Sheridan Framingham Ma. We are looking to do this conference a little different with having fun as our focus. If you have any ideas of what you would like to see at our Mid Year Conference please send them to me. I want to hear from you. We are still planning to hold classes as we have in the past and we may hold some other things as well. We are in the planning phase and your input is very much welcomed. I d like to wish everyone a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year. See you in my travels.

Northeast Moose Association The Northeast Moose Association has created an on-line calendar for your use. It contains meeting dates and times for the Association board, The Moose Legion # 92, District Meetings and assorted informational deadlines for items required by Moose Internation (Heart of the Community Report Due Dates, AR Payment Due Date, Quickbooks transmission deadlines) etc. If you have something that you would like to see on the calendar, please let us know. If your lodge or chapter is having a special event (open to the entire association), please let us know. The link to the calendar is below. Stephen Moynahan is maintaining the online calendar, so please forward to him (slockem@yahoo.com) any dates and times you would like to see. Please put NEMA Calendar in the subject line, so it doesn t get marked as spam. MEETING DATES 2015 NORTHEAST MOOSE LEGION 92 JANUARY 10 & 11 - CELEBRATION, NEWPORT # 1236 FEBRUARY 28 - NOMINATING COMMITTEE MTG. NEWPORT # 1236 APRIL 11 & 12 - CELEBRATION, DISTRICT # 1 JUNE 13 & 14 - CELEBRATION, DISTRICT # 3 SEPTEMBER 12 - CATHEDRAL OF THE PINES OCTOBER 3 & 4 - CELEBRATION, DISTRICT # 2

Greetings from District #3! We are all getting over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays and now getting geared up for meetings, conventions, and of course karaoke! I personally went around to a few Lodges (or called) and saw all of the good things they were doing or have done recently. For example: Dover has completed 95% of their outside patio (very nice!), Portsmouth was gearing up for their New Year s Eve Celebration, The White Mountains Lodge held their first Community dinner/dance and they also sold Christmas trees as a fundraiser! Milton raised enough can goods, non-perishables, and turkeys to feed 14 families for a week for Thanksgiving. Milton was also chosen to receive grant money from Moose International for much needed tables and chairs, and Ellsworth sent their ring game to District 1 to use as one of their many fundraisers (Thank-you Ellsworth!). Portland you always have a great breakfast and your television outside on the patio is cool! Concord, who always has fun, is gearing up to host District 3 s Karaoke Competition. District competition will be held on March 7, 2015 at 2pm. By the end of January, all Lodges in District 3 should have completed their Lodge Karaoke Competition. Please have your Administrator get your Lodge s results to Dawn Marie at the Concord Lodge so she will have time to get all the music needed for the District Competition. Any questions, contact myself or Dawn Marie. This is our first NEMA newsletter and I m very happy to be a part of it. I can t be everywhere all the time, so if your Lodge has anything to add, shoot me an email at nnicholas1299@gmail.com and I can combine it with my personal thoughts and observations and get it into the next NEMA newsletter. I know every Lodge by now, knows about the flat screen TV s they can win from NEMA, I know every Lodge and Chapter have been busy these last two months, but as they say time to get back to basics which means time to get back to work of fundraising for Mooseheart and Moosehaven, and our charities. Time to work on member retention (which is a year round endeavor), and make your Lodge/Chapter a place where members have fun. I realize it s been awhile since we met as a district but just to refresh everyone s memory, here s your (2014-2015) District 3 Board of Officers: President-Buddy Nicholas, Vice President- Rick Cobb, Prelate-Bob Lerman, Secretary Justin Vincent, and Jr. Past President- Jim Towle Next District 3 meeting will be held at the Milton Lodge on February 22, 2015 at 1pm. Hope to see you there! Fraternally, Buddy Nicholas, District 3 President
