ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY WORKSHOP: INTEGRATING ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY WITH CLINICAL CARDIOLOGY This two-day weekend workshop is for the absolute beginner. No prior experience is required. There will be lots of hands-on scanning time to learn the echocardiography views. The lecture material is designed to enable you to have the knowledge to perform an echocardiography examination and interpret the findings. There will be cases presented to help integrate your new knowledge and echocardiography skills into the cardiology cases you see every day in practice. Cost The cost to attend the workshop is AUD$1,850 excluding GST with full payment required prior to attending. When we receive your completed booking form, we will send a confirmation e-mail together with a Tax Invoice. Timing The course is scheduled to run from 8.30am to 5pm with allowance for morning and afternoon breaks plus lunch. For people who plan to arrive late or need to leave early (catch flights), please let us know so we can accommodate. Meals Tea, coffee and soft refreshments are provided and available all day during the course. A generous lunch will be provided with a wide combination of food & fruit available. Plus there will be morning and afternoon snacks supplied. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements. Training Course notes will be provided together with note pad and pen for taking additional notes.
Tutors: Fleur James BSc BVMS (Hons) FANZCVS (Small Animal Medicine) Following graduation from Murdoch in 2000, Fleur practiced in private small animal practice for 4 years before commencing her residency in Small Animal Medicine at Murdoch. Fleur was awarded Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2009 and her work as a referral clinician has always had a strong focus on cardiology. Fleur s interests include the practical application of echocardiography, congenital cardiac disease and interventional cardiology. Fleur is enthusiastic about continuing education and enjoys sharing information about updates in management of patients with cardiac disease. Jane Day BVSc MVS MANZCVS (Radiology) Jane joined the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Murdoch University in early 2013. Previously she has worked in the radiology departments at the University of Queensland, Oklahoma State University, the University of Melbourne and James Cook University. At James Cook University, Jane was head of the radiology department and set up the radiology facility and the undergraduate curriculum. Prior to pursuing a career in radiology she worked in small animal practice in Australia and the UK, occasionally seeing to the cattle and horses on her family property in Western Queensland. She began doing echocardiography and abdominal ultrasound while in general practice and understands the joys and frustrations of scanning in this environment, and how to best advance your skills. Jane is passionate about continuing education, has extensive experience in teaching ultrasound and has taught at CVE and other ultrasound workshops since 2007.
