dotfit Launch Preparation Practice Case Study Client: Cliff Mitchell Age: 43 Height: 5 11 Weight: 224 Profession: Auto Dealership General Manager Current Physical Condition: Cliff was a high school / college athlete. Over the past 20 years he has gained about 30 pounds, and the extra weight, long hours at work, and lack of regular structured exercise is starting to really take a toll. Cliff tells you he gets tired just taking the stairs at work. He also complains about occasional knee pain. Current Exercise Habits: Cliff has had memberships at many gyms during the past 20 years but would typically only make his a visit every January 2 nd. Previous Dieting Experience: Cliff is like the typical office person He will follow what everyone else is doing when he decides to diet. He has lost weight with: Atkins, SugarBusters, and Weight Watchers just to name a few. The only problem is that he gained all of his weight back PLUS more! He is very frustrated with dieting. Current Nutrition Habits: Breakfast is usually a Diet Coke and something quick at home Pop Tart, bagel, instant oatmeal, etc. Usually, he will either not eat again until lunch but occasionally will make his way to the vending machine for a snack. Lunch will be anything from fast food to a sit down restaurant - if he is able to make it out of the dealership. Choices will vary, but usually include some type of sandwich along with chips or fries. Dinner usually does not occur until late because of his schedule. Cliff tells you he is often starving by the time he makes it home so he will usually grab a beer and some chips or nuts until his wife calls the family together for dinner. He also admits to being a self-proclaimed sugar junkie. He usually has some type of dessert after most meals. You ask if there are any groups of foods he simply does not like, he responds with, If you put it in front of me, I will eat it. Goals: Cliff recently had a very close friend pass away from a heart attack. This friend was very similar to himself in lifestyle, age, and weight. Also, Cliff has a family history of heart disease which he has been trying to ignore but this situation with his friend made him realize how important his health is. He has two children, one 15 and the other 12, who are the light of his life. Cliff attempted to throw the football last weekend with his son and found himself fatigued in less than 15 minutes. Cliff wants to be healthier, lose 1

weight, and be around long enough and in good enough condition to be able to throw the football around one day with his future grandkids. Supplement beliefs: Cliff had some supplement experience when he was in college but not much since then.
