Ohio Hunter and Trapper Education Instructors Association Information and Questionnaire November 2016 Fellow Instructor, Hopefully, you know that as a certified Ohio Volunteer Hunter/Trapper Education Instructor in good standing, you are automatically a member of the Ohio Hunter and Trapper Education Instructors Association (). The following are the purposes of the Association as found in our constitution: To improve the quality of volunteer hunter and trapper education instruction offered in the State of Ohio; To recruit new, qualified hunter and trapper education instructors; To support Ohio hunter and trapper education instructors in their instructional efforts; To share among its members new and improved instructional techniques and mechanisms; To affiliate with, if desired, other hunting, trapping, shooting and wildlife oriented organizations with which its shares common goals; To foster cooperation and coordination between the Association and the Ohio Division of Wildlife and the U. S. Fish and Game Commission and, upon request, to aid and assist the Ohio Division of Wildlife in the administration and maintenance of the Ohio Hunter and Trapper Education Program; and To engage in other appropriate activities as determined by the Association s Board. As an all-volunteer 501(c)3 organization (comprised of volunteer instructors), we depend on our members for support, direction, and ideas. The Board of Directors would like your input on several topics. At the BOD meetings and the annual meeting (the last Saturday in February), we solicit input members. However, we hear from less than 5% of the approximately 1500 certified instructors. In an effort to gather some much-needed input, we ve put together the attached questionnaire. This will assist with our efforts to reach our members, get input and help meet the purposes of the Association.

To help encourage participation, there will be a drawing for a $100 Cabela s gift card and other prizes at the 2017 Annual meeting. To participate in the drawing, prior to January 31 st, 2017 you must submit a completed survey to info@ohteia.org or by mail to: PO BOX 62206 Cincinnati, OH 45262 There may be additional donated prizes added to the drawing. So please share your thoughts with us though the survey. Hopefully while we still have your attention; here is some other information we would like to share. Last November Matt Ortman shared information about the new Google Group: If you have not already done so, please consider joining the Ohio Hunter and Trapper Education Instructor Group. Email has become a very efficient way for us to communicate important information to our instructors. It allows us to get information to each of you in a timely manner. Please consider joining. You can join at the following link. https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!forum/ohio-hunter-and-trapper-educationinstructors/join You may have noticed that the green HE newsletter has stopped showing up in your mailbox. With the lead times for printing and mailing the newsletter really wasn t the best way to get information in the Instructors hands. There will still be occasional mailings (like this one), but they will be less frequent too. Guest speaker booked for 2017 Annual meeting The Annual meeting is booked for February 25 th, 2017 at Tall Timbers Banquet Center; Reynoldsburg, OH. Continuing the string of excellent guest speakers at the banquets, we have secured Rod Slings to talk at the 2017 banquet. Mr. Slings is a principal at Hunting Related Shooting Consultants (huntsrc.com), an expert in hunting incident investigations and a co-author of Blood on the Leaves. Please check and update your email address with the ODOW Hunter Education The Association website,.org, is being updated. Please visit. Thank you for your attention, Board of Directors
