LEEDS LL CROSS GREEN 2004 (1804003) WATER SUPPLY ZONE. COMMENTARY ON WATER QUALITY The water supplied to the zone is classified as being moderately hard water, which is river/reservoir derived. As we have a grid system in place whereby we can move water around the Yorkshire region as required, occasionally the hardness of your water may vary. No fluoride is added to the water. Any fluoride that is there is naturally occurring. Samples taken in the period showed that the water complied in all respects with the prescribed standards. DETAILS OF UNDERTAKINGS AND NOTICES APPLICABLE 1) Undertaking YKS 3264 in relation to Total Pesticides and Metaldehyde due to risk of pesticide residues in the raw water sources feeding Eccup No:2, Elvington and Loftsome Bridge water treatment works. Steps to be taken involve optimising treatment where possible and additionally to liaise with the Environment Agency, farmers, agronomists and other stakeholders to minimise inputs of this substance into the catchments serving our treatment works. The target is to secure compliance for both parameters by 31 March 2020. 2) Notice YKS 3414 in relation to increased turbidity in the final water due to deficiencies with control of current lime dosing system at Headingley water treatment works. Replacement lime dosing system to be installed and made operational by 31 January 2017. 3) Notice YKS 3263 in respect of Lead to secure or facilitate compliance with the lead standard in distribution. The concentration of lead is at risk of exceeding the prescribed concentrations in the zone because of the presence of lead pipe-work within the supply network to individual properties (where the network is deemed to include non-water undertaker owned assets). Remedial measures include an enhanced monitoring strategy for lead at consumer s taps to supplement current operational and compliance monitoring and removal of lead communication pipes as required. All remedial measures to be completed by 30 April 2018. Information & Regulation July 2017 Page 1 of 7 1 st January 2016 31 st December 2016
