The preparations for the workshop began in January 2016 when our guest faculty Prof. Vijay Goel arrived from the University of Toledo to help us with our endevour of developing a biomechanics lab. The organizing committee had meetings with the IIT Delhi and all the inputs were incorporated while formulating the program. The event was well marketed through brochures and various social media platforms. The programme was finalized well in advance. The workshop was open to attendance for orthopaedic surgeons, biomechanical engineers and rehabilitation professionals. 43 national and international faculty were a part of the event. More than 200 delegates attended the one day academic and research extravaganza. The workshop was an academic fiesta. There were 5 back to back academic sessions on different subspecialties of orthopaedics namely, trauma, sports injuries, knee arthroplasty and hip arthroplasty. The Programme consisted of minimum didactic lectures and focused mainly on case based panel discussions on biomechanical implications of common orthopaedic problems. A differential feature of this workshop was the participation of biomechanical engineers like Prof. Vijay Goel from the University of Toledo and faculty from IIT Delhi. There were lots of good talks and discussions on the basic biomechanical aspect of orthopaedic ailments.

Advanced trauma course 2017 On the 2 nd of April 2017 Delhi Orthopaedic Association organized the Advanced trauma course 2017 targeted specifically to strengthen the concepts of trauma care amongst young Orthopods. The course was held at The Royal Plaza, Ashoka Road and was led by Dr Mukesh Kalra, LHMC as the Organizing Chairman, Dr.Lalit Maini, MAMC & LNH as the Organizing Director and Dr.Jatin Talwar,VMMC & SJH as the Organizing Secretary. Two modules (Upper limb and Lower limbs) were designed which covered the most commonly encountered regions by a trauma surgeon namely, proximal humerus, distal radius, proximal femur and proximal tibia. Every module had presentations followed by sufficient time for hands on saw bone workshop for each region so the course had a total of 3 hours of saw bone exercise. With a limited seat availability of 50 delegates the course was a huge success with a student Faculty of the Course faculty ratio of 3:1 and included delegates from many institutions in Delhi and also outside Delhi ( Jaipur, M.P, Roorkee). With a total of 8 work stations each having 6 delegates and 2 faculty members, every delegate had sufficient opportunity to interact with faculty members on his table. Two independent observers observed the course from its start till the end and have given a very good rating to the course. At the end the feedback forms were distributed to the delegates for their personal feedback for the course. The feedback score from the delegates was on an average 4.5-5 out of 5 points. Overall the Organizing committee, all the faculty members and the Delhi Orthopaedic Association was deeply appreciated by all who attended the course. It was requested and suggested by all to make the Advanced Trauma Course a regular annual event.
