John Farnham I was born in the UK in 1949, and migrated to Australia in 1959. My first band was called The Mavericks. My manager used to be a member of Australian band Masters Apprentices. I was named Australian of the Year in 1987. My last #1 Australian single was written by Johanna Piggot and Todd Hunter. (Age of Reason) I won six of the inaugural 1987 ARIA Music Awards for 'Album of the Year', 'Single of the Year', 'Highest Selling Album', 'Highest Selling Single', 'Best Male Artist' and 'Best Adult Contemporary Album'. I was the lead singer of the Little River Band from 1982-85 My second commercially successful recording was a cover of Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head I retired from performing in 2002 but have since made a number of come backs and have continued to perform regularly including the recent Hay Mate: Buy a Bale concert for Australian farmers.
