It is charged with the develpment and educatin f water pl players, fficials, caches and vlunteers thrughut Australia and with the cnduct f cmpetitins and champinships fr all levels f participatin. Our missin is t facilitate and nurture the sprt f water pl fr the enjyment f all invlved, increasing participatin at all levels and achieving sustainable success at elite level. We wrk t ensure equity in access t water pl, taking int cnsideratin gender, age, ability and gegraphical lcatin, encuraging and recgnising the achievement f excellence in water pl. We adpt and apply the best practices in the management f water pl as a business and in elite sprts develpment, fstering the invlvement f stakehlders in the rganisatin and develpment f the future f water pl. 2

AUSTRALIAN WATERPOLO LEAGUE What is the AWL? The Australian Waterpl League (AWL) is Australia s premier dmestic water pl cmpetitin. The AWL has 11 representative clubs frm acrss Australia, each club has ne team fr each gender. The AWL begun as the Natinal Water Pl Men s League league began in 1990, with the wmen s league intrduced in 2004. In 2015 WPA intrduced a licensing structure t the league t frmalise the teams invlvement, meaning all 11 clubs invlved nw hld a license t cmpete each year. In 2017, the name was changed frm Natinal Water Pl League t Australian Waterpl League. Hw the AWL wrks The AWL seasn runs fr fur mnths, with matches mst weekends frm January thrugh t April. Every team has a cmbinatin f bth hme and away games, with all teams requiring inter and intrastate travel multiple times during the fur mnth seasn. The AWL prvides imprtant cmpetitin pprtunities fr natinal squad members as well as the next generatin f Australian water pl talent. It is truly a natinal cmpetitin, featuring teams frm fur states acrss Australia and internatinal players ften jin teams cmpeting in the League creating a high quality cmpetitin. 4

AUSTRALIAN WATERPOLO LEAGUE What expsure des the AWL have? On tp f the already established water pl cmmunity and fan base, in 2017, WPA secured an fficial telecmmunicatins and media partner in telc and digital bradcaster OVO Mbile. The agreement between the tw parties is fr a fur year perid, and includes prvisins fr OVO Mbile t shwcase the AWL Seasn thrugh their channels starting with the 2017/18 seasn. This is a very imprtant step fr the sprt f water pl in Australia, and is a significant milestne fr the AWL. With this cverage, the expsure f water pl will reach further than thse able t make it t the pl t watch the games, as the wider cmmunity will nw be able t live stream the actin directly t their mbile devices. 6
UWA WATER POLO CLUB The UWA City Beach Water Pl Club The UWA City Beach Water Pl Club has apprximately 1,000 playing members and tgether with families and friends, the UWA Water Pl Club has a direct interest grup f 3,000+. In additin, UWA has up t 25,000 students and a very large alumni, prviding a ttal expsed interest grup appraching nearly 30,000 peple. Abut the UWA Trpedes The UWA Trpedes is the AWL franchise f the very successful parent UWA City Beach Water Pl Club. The UWA Trpedes Men s team tk the title in the 2015/16 AWL seasn, with the men finishing furth in the 2016/17 AWL seasn. In 2010, the club enlisted a new cach, triple Olympian Andrei Kvalenk t ur men s team resulting in a huge imprvement in the teams natinal standing culminating in the 2015/16 Mens champinship. Many f ur male players have gained selectin in natinal squads and have been awarded schlarships with the Western Australian Institute f Sprt (WAIS). The Wmen s team appinted a new cach in 2015 with the well-credentialed Sctt Schweickle, wh has cached at bth state and natinal level with great success. Sctt s fcus is develping the current team with an expectatin f making the medal playffs this cming seasn. 7
UWA WATER POLO CLUB Why we need spnsrship The cst f maintaining a prgram fr ur athletes is always high. The sprt is played wrldwide and the best teams are based in Eurpe, s in additin t playing in the Natinal league during the Suthern hemisphere summer, many f ur athletes have t travel t Eurpe every winter when representing an Australian team. This is difficult as all players are full time students r wrking prfessinals, and unlike sme sprts, we cannt ffer ur players paid cntracts. What we can d as an alternative, with the generus supprt f ur business cmmunity, is subsidise the cst f the caching, cmpeting and travel fr ur wn natinal league cmpetitin, t make it available t all aspiring and talented athletes. We are always hpeful f reducing the cst t make the sprt mre available t a wider playing grup. 8
