RETROVIRUS HIV is the cause of the most important global pandemic. Due to the lack of vaccination, early diagnosis and mandatory screening of blood bank products are the main strategies adopted worldwide to control and prevent HIV transmission. HIV diagnostic tests require high sensitivity and specificity and have been evolving to new designs and technologies that allow better sensitivity for early infections. HTLV-I and HTLV-II are retroviruses that cause severe hematological and neurological diseases. Transmission occurs mainly through sexual intercourse, from mother to child during pregnancy or through contaminated blood products. Blood bank screening for HTLV is mandatory in endemic areas, and it is also being adopted for non-endemic countries where the incidence is increasing due to immigration. bioelisa products for the detection of HIV and HTLV have 100% sensitivity, high specificity and very good analytical sensitivity, allowing the infection to be detected in the early stages of the disease. bioelisa HIV 1+2 Ag/Ab bioelisa HIV 1+2 Ag/Ab bioelisa HTLV-I+II 5.0 192 tests 3000-1172 3000-1173 3000-1165 HEPATITIS Hepatitis is a liver disease characterized by the presence of inflammatory cells in the tissue of the organ. Hepatitis may occur due to different causes, with virus infection being the most prevalent. The most common causes of viral hepatitis are the five unrelated hepatotropic viruses: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis D, and Hepatitis E. The disease can be presented in acute (recent infection with a relatively rapid onset) or chronic forms. Tests against HAV and HEV are widely used to perform a differential diagnosis to distinguish from other types of hepatitis. HBV and HCV tests are important both for clinical diagnosis and blood bank screening. Recent studies have suggested the transmission of HEV through blood transfusions in non-endemic areas, and HEV tests have been included in blood screening. All the bioelisa products for diagnosis of hepatitis have very good performance in terms of sensitivity and specificity, as demonstrated in several studies. I N F E C T I O U S D I S E A S E S bioelisa ToRCH The ToRCH panel, also known as pregnancy or prenatal panel, is used to screen pregnant women for infectious diseases that can cause congenital anomalies, growth delay and brain and nervous system problems in babies if the infection occurs during the pregnancy. IgG tests are recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy to distinguish between protected and non-protected mothers against the pathogen. IgM tests are performed all throughout the pregnancy to detect present infections. If a woman becomes infected during her pregnancy, the baby may also become infected while still in the womb. The baby is more sensitive to harm from infection during the first three to four months of the pregnancy. Due to Biokit s high level of expertise in the production of native antigens against ToRCH parameters, bioelisa products are the best in class tests for ToRCH analysis. Most of the products share the same protocol and have common reagents that improve laboratory workflow. bioelisa TOXO IgG bioelisa TOXO IgM bioelisa RUBELLA IgG bioelisa RUBELLA IgG colour bioelisa RUBELLA IgM 3000-1214 3000-1210 3000-1215 3000-1219 3000-1231 bioelisa CMV IgG bioelisa CMV colour 2.0 bioelisa HSV-1 IgG bioelisa HSV-2 IgG 3000-1216 3000-1250 3000-1206 3000-1208 OTHER Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacteria Treponema pallidum that can be presented as primary, secondary, latent or tertiary infection. Syphilis screening and diagnosis are important in blood banks to maintain blood safety and in pregnant women, to avoid vertical transmission that can cause spontaneous abortions or stillbirths. Chagas disease is a chronic parasitic infection caused by Trypanosoma cruzi transmitted by triatomine bugs. Diagnosis of Chagas in early stages of the infection and proper treatment prevent the chronicity of the disease. Chagas screening is mandatory in pregnant women and in blood banks, to avoid congenital and parenteral transmission. Chagas disease started to be endemic in some countries of Latin America, but due to migration effects it has spread and is now a global concern. Helicobacter is present in the upper gastrointestinal tract in 50% of the world s population, and is only symptomatic in a small percentage of those infected. Serological analysis is performed for initial diagnosis aſter active infection and for monitoring the efficacy of a specific therapy. bioelisa products for Syphilis, Chagas and Helicobacter diagnosis have shown very good performance in terms of high sensitivity and specificity, being the tests of choice of many blood banks and clinical laboratories. bioelisa SYPHILIS 3.0 bioelisa SYPHILIS 3.0 bioelisa CHAGAS bioelisa HELICOBACTER IgG 3000-1148 3000-1149 3000-1236 3000-1141
