Earls Barton Primary School Broad Street Northampton NN6 0ND Telephone: 01604 810371 Website: www.earlsbartonprimary.org.uk Headteacher: Mrs P D Shacklady Expect, Believe, Persevere, Succeed. Friday February 1st 2019 Young Voices On Thursday 24th January 2019, 56 children from Earls Barton Primary School went to the Young Voices concert - which is the largest school choir in the world. This thrilling event involved over 6,000 children and took place at the Genting arena in Birmingham. Last week, a group of enthusiastic children went to an amazing event named Young Voices where you can really show what you're made of. This show included a lot of singing, dancing and much, much more. Many parents also went to watch this life-changing event. We were also joined by Beau Dermott (Amanda's golden buzzer act from Britain's Got Talent) singing songs from Wicked, Tony Hadley, Sharlene Hector and the best street dancers of all time - the one and only Urban Strides. The teachers even got to meet Tony Hadley! It was a great opportunity for all that went. Article penned by Lily, Jessica, Summer and Ciara

"It was one of the best occasions of the year" Hannah It was thrilling, I wish I could go again" Lily I can't believe I'll never be able to go again" Summer "Really disappointed its my last year, I absolutely loved it" Izzy " Young Voices is a once in a lifetime experience - I will never forget it" Ciara

If you want to check out any of the dances or the songs go to the school website and click on Young Voices. You can also check out behind the scenes action on youtube @urban strides. Thank you to all the staff who went to Young Voices: Mrs Loomes, Mrs Smart, Mrs Clarke, Mrs Biggs, Mr Stockham, Mrs Skett and Mrs Stanton. An especially BIG THANK YOU to Mrs Skett for arranging this amazing opportunity and running KS2 choir throughout the year.

Ancient Egypt Comes to EBPS This week, years 3 and 4 got to experience what life was like during Ancient Egypt. During the mornings, the children were able to take part in many different crafts such as messy mummification, soap scarab carving and writing in hieroglyphs. Throughout the afternoons, they were placed in the royal court where they had a fantastic feast with lots of new foods to try, and they even got to arrest a teacher for high treason! Everyone enjoyed their experience and came away with a wealth of knowledge as well as some beautiful keepsakes. The whole of years 3 and 4 are very grateful for their spectacular experience and would like to thank the wonderful parents, helpers, teachers and the History Off the Page company for making it happen.

KS2 Choir Cancelled: A reminder that KS2 choir has been cancelled on 7th February and 28th February. We are sorry for any inconvenience. A reminder that Laurel Class assembly is on Friday 8th February at 9.15am. Parent Forum Last year, we began our Parent Forum meetings. These have been very positive and, so far, we have held meetings focussing on communication, end of year reports and our homework policy which have informed our decision making in school. Ideally, we would like a representative group of parents from all year groups and we try to arrange the meetings on different days of the week to fit in with your busy lives. Our next meeting will be on Friday 15 th March at 9am. If you are able to attend, please inform Mrs Loomes at k.loomes@eb-pri.northants.sch.uk by Friday 8 th March. Thank you.
