Mid Hudson Region NY Area Captain Newsletter March 2016 Leaders please share with your chapter What a busy month March is! First it was St. Patrick s Day with Corned beef and cabbage dinners hope you all marched in a parade to walk it off! Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday end the month. Special foods, Easter egg hunts and baskets, and don t forget the chocolate bunnies. Wow so much to tempt us. Concentrate on the Fun, Activities and Dressing up. Get out there and be active the weather has been fantastic!!! Enjoy it! Congratulations to Anna Tansosch of NY 1199 Newburgh for making your goal! Way to go Anna!! Clarification of Annual Workshop fee: TOTAL AMOUNT DUE: $25.00 FROM EACH CHAPTER ($10.00 IF YOU HAVE 4 OR LESS MEMBERS) AND THIS COVERS SPRING, SUMMER AND THE FALL OFFICER WORKSHOPS (WHICH ARE NOW REFERRED TO AS TOPS TOWN TALK. Just a note; the other areas only have two workshops for the same price. (Please do not confuse this with the Area Inspiration Meeting Fees which are $3.00 per person for each member and/or guest who attends each Area Inspiration Meeting) Payment due now...please send a chapter check made out to TOPS Workshop Fund (two signatures required) (Remittance Forms were recently e-mailed to each chapter leader and designate)
SAVE THE DATE: Area Inspirational Meeting & TOPS Town Talk. Time we can answer questions and give information April 30 th hosted by NY 158 Cornwall. Our guest speaker for the AIM will be Laura Cormier a certified Walk Leader for Leslie Sansone s Walk Live classes and president of Next Step Fitness. She will lead us on a mile walk there will be participation for those that are chair bound! Everyone will be able to enjoy the activity. Let s plan now to have a great turnout for the Spring event. Registrations due by April 2 nd. We really need to get a count as early as possible for Laura to have enough goodie bags. Volunteers needed! Are you attending SRD in June? I need some people to man the Chapter Registration booth on Thursday evening and Friday during the day. I think it s wonderful that this month s motivational word ties right in with the Area Captain Presentation Lean on Me for Support. Area Captain Presentation for 2016 Lean on Me for Support TOPS meetings are a place for support. This year s Area Captains program teaches members that support is sharing, forgiving ourselves and others, and using challenges as an opportunity to learn and grow. This happy little guy, made of soft and squeezable foam, is your 2016 promotional item, which sells for $3. He s a friendly reminder for members to welcome each other with open arms and ears and always keep a positive attitude. When squeezed, he says Woo-hoo! Do I feel great! Going to be a stress-free day today! Members will love to keep him handy at TOPS meetings, at work or whenever they need a friendly pick-me-up. Keep me informed of special events your chapter will be participating in such as Health fairs and Community Days. If you need brochures, magazines etc for your table let me know and I can order supplies from headquarters for you. If its last minute I will try to supply you from the supplies I have on hand for events I am participating in this year.

You ll be glad you did! - Each chapter is asked to donate a raffle basket or two depending on the size of your chapter (New Items only please). Even if no one from your chapter will be attending the State Recognition Days you can still help, contact me and I will deliver your basket to the SRD. We would like it if your basket s could have a list on it saying what is in the basket.
