PATIENT & CAREGIVER EDUCATION Ofatumumab Brand Names: US Arzerra Brand Names: Canada Arzerra Warning If you have had hepatitis B before or carry the virus, this drug can cause the virus to become active. This can lead to very bad and sometimes deadly liver problems. You will be tested for hepatitis B before starting this drug. You will need to watch for signs of hepatitis while taking this drug and for several months after stopping it. Talk with your doctor. A very bad brain problem called prog ressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) has happened with this drug. It may cause disability or can be deadly. Tell your doctor rig ht away if you have sig ns like confusion, memory problems, low mood (depression), chang e in the way you act, chang e in streng th on 1 side is g reater than the other, trouble speaking or thinking, change in balance, or change in eyesight. What is this drug used for? It is used to treat a type of leukemia. What do I need to tell my doctor BEFORE I take this drug? If you have an allerg y to ofatumumab or any other part of this drug. If you are allergic to any drugs like this one, any other drugs, foods, or other substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had, like rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, Ofatumumab 1/6

lips, tong ue, or throat; or any other sig ns. This drug may interact with other drug s or health problems. Tell your doctor and pharmacist about all of your drug s (prescription or OTC, natural products, vitamins) and health problems. You must check to make sure that it is safe for you to take this drug with all of your drugs and health problems. Do not start, stop, or chang e the dose of any drug without checking with your doctor. What are some things I need to know or do while I take this drug? Tell all of your health care providers that you take this drug. This includes your doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists. You may have more of a chance of g etting an infection. Wash hands often. Stay away from people with infections, colds, or flu. Some infections have been very bad and even deadly. You may bleed more easily. Be careful and avoid injury. Use a soft toothbrush and an electric razor. Have blood work checked as you have been told by the doctor. Talk with the doctor. Talk with your doctor before g etting any vaccines. Use of some vaccines with this drug may either raise the chance of an infection or make the vaccine not work as well. If you are 65 or older, use this drug with care. You could have more side effects. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant. You will need to talk about the benefits and risks of using this drug while you are preg nant. If you used this drug when you were preg nant, tell your baby s doctor. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding. You will need to talk about any risks to your baby. What are some side effects that I need to call my Ofatumumab 2/6

doctor about right away? WARNING/CAUTION: Even thoug h it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect: Sig ns of an allerg ic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tig htness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tong ue, or throat. Sig ns of infection like fever, chills, very bad sore throat, ear or sinus pain, coug h, more sputum or chang e in color of sputum, pain with passing urine, mouth sores, or wound that will not heal. Sig ns of liver problems like dark urine, feeling tired, not hung ry, upset stomach or stomach pain, lig ht-colored stools, throwing up, or yellow skin or eyes. Feeling very tired or weak. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Severe diarrhea. Any unexplained bruising or bleeding. Swelling in the arms or legs. Patients with cancer who take this drug may be at a greater risk of getting a severe health problem called tumor lysis syndrome (TLS).This may lead to death. Call your doctor rig ht away if you have a fast or abnormal heartbeat; any passing out; trouble passing urine; muscle weakness or cramps; upset stomach, throwing up, diarrhea, or not able to eat; or feel sluggish. Very bad and sometimes deadly side effects have rarely happened during and within 24 hours after the infusion. Tell your doctor rig ht away if you have a heartbeat that does not feel normal; back pain; chest pain or pressure; fast or slow heartbeat; fever or chills; flushing; shortness of breath; stomach pain; very bad dizziness or passing out; or very bad headache. What are some other side effects of this drug? All drug s may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or Ofatumumab 3/6

only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or g et medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away: Feeling tired or weak. Upset stomach. Diarrhea. These are not all of the side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, call your doctor. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to your national health ag ency. How is this drug best taken? Use this drug as ordered by your doctor. Read all information g iven to you. Follow all instructions closely. It is g iven as an infusion into a vein over a period of time. Other drug s may be g iven to help with infusion side effects. What do I do if I miss a dose? Call your doctor to find out what to do. How do I store and/or throw out this drug? If you need to store this drug at home, talk with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist about how to store it. General drug facts If your symptoms or health problems do not g et better or if they become worse, call your doctor. Do not share your drugs with others and do not take anyone else s drugs. Keep a list of all your drug s (prescription, natural products, vitamins, OTC) with you. Give this list to your doctor. OTC, natural products, or vitamins. Keep all drugs in a safe place. Keep all drugs out of the reach of children and pets. Throw away unused or expired drugs.
