COPING WITH THE HOLIDAYS GUIDE IT TAKES STRENGTH TO MAKE YOUR WAY THROUGH GRIEF, TO GRAB HOLD OF LIFE AND LET IT PULL YOU FORWARD.

OUR LABOR HERE IS BRIEF, BUT THE REWARD IS ETERNAL. ~ ST. CLARE OF ASSISI ANGELA HOSPICE IS A FELICIAN-SPONSORED MINISTRY

DEAR FRIENDS & FAMILY Family get-togethers may be difficult for me this season: Could we be honest with each other about what we want to do? Let s talk about what s important to each person and determine which traditions we may not want to observe this year. Remember, we can always bring them back later. How about no high expectations for us or the day. We know that things won t be the same. Our focus should be our young children, and what might be important to them. Let s be around people who are supportive and comforting, those that accept us and allow us to feel whatever we need to. Now that we ve decided how to spend the holidays, we have to let other relatives and friends know. ANGELA HOSPICE GRIEF SUPPORT IS HERE FOR YOU, CALL TOLL FREE 866.464.7810

TIP Journal when you are having an especially rough day. Start by naming one tip from this book that you will put into practice:

EVERYDAY INSPIRATION 1. Acknowledge that the holidays will be different and they will be tough. 2. Decide which traditions to keep or change. 3. Light a memorial candle in your home. 4. Buy a gift you would have given to your loved one and donate it to charity. 5. Don t feel guilty about not sending cards or skipping events. 6. Ask someone else to cook or buy the holiday dinner. 7. Volunteer for a non-profit in your loved one s memory. 8. Allow yourself to be happy this doesn t diminish how much you miss your loved one.
