,- %"*%+#"#Transe obturator tapetension free vaginal tape")'(!"#$#%& Abstract: Comparison of transe obturator tape and tension free vaginal tape in stress urinary incontinence Behrooz S. MD * Introduction & Objective: Stress urinary incontinence is a common and prominent problem in women. Although various therapeutic measures has been recommended for treatment, decision making for patients with this complaint, is not easy. One of the major kinds of operative procedures are slings; the two well- known types are tension free vaginal tape and trasobturator tape. Both these procedures has been taught and used in Iran, during recent years. In this review articles comparing the two methods in terms of cure rate and complications (including bladder perforation, groin pain, postoperative urinary retention, vaginal erosion and urinary tract infections) were considered. According to the results TOT has advantages over TVT regarding shorter time needed for operation and relatively less complications. However in some patients including the ones with intrinsic sphincter deficiency TVT turns to be a better option. Key Words: Strees urinary incontinence, TVT, TOT. * Obstetrician and Gynecologist
