Catch up hepatitis B vaccination strategies All children and adolescents younger than 18 yearsold and not previously vaccinated should receive the vaccine if they live in countries where there is low or intermediate endemicity. Higher dose of vaccination might improve the lower response in persons with HIV or with a low CD4 count. Safer sex practices also protect against transmission including minimizing the number of partners and using barrier protective measures. 27
