How to get involved 5 Easy steps to making a difference Step Read Have a read over this guide for tips and inspiration on how to become one of our much appreciated fundraisers. Step Register Select a date for your event and complete our online Fundraising Registration form. We fundraise all year round so choose a date that works best for you and tell us all about it. Step Go ahead You will receive an Authority to fundraise certificate once your activity is approved, as well as a link to downloadable marketing materials you can use to help promote your fundraising efforts. Then it s time to start planning! Step Get support With your event details locked in, get support from the community by sharing your event on your social media pages; setting up an online fundraising page; displaying the Good Friday Appeal poster; or all of these. Fundraising ideas FUNDRAiSING Fundraising ideas ACTIVITY IDEAS There are so many ways to get involved and make a difference. Hold a tried and tested activity, or put your own sparkle on it and try something truly unique. Here are some activities that our fundraisers have held in the past: Market stalls - sell cakes, crafts, plants etc Golf day Guessing competition - footy tipping, guess the number of easter eggs in the jar Trivia night or movie night Fancy dress day, or casual dress day, at work or school Auction off art, car parts, clothes anything! Participate in a sporting event, like a fun run, walk or swim-a-thon, or hold a fitness day You can also host a collection container in your business and collect funds all year round. What your fundraising supports Research Research is essential in transforming the future of children s health and we make a difference by investing in research teams who push the boundaries of paediatric medicine, seeking treatments and cures for conditions that threaten our children. Equipment and Technology Fund state-of-the-art equipment and technology that helps the Hospital improve the quality of health care provided to patients. Patient and Family Centred Care The Hospital aims to care not only for the child but for the whole family. They are committed to ensuring that the child and family can live a normal as life as possible while receiving medical treatment. Leadership and Training With a highly skilled staff of almost 6,000, the Hospital not only provides excellent clinical care, but also ensures it provides leadership in education and knowledge transfer, fostering excellence for staff and future generations of health care professionals. 8
Online fundraising ONLINE FUNDRAISING An easy and hassle free way of receiving donations from family and friends is through online fundraising. It will help you spread the word about your event quickly and it makes collecting money from your supporters stress free. 1 2 You can create your own fundraising page via the Good Friday Appeal campaign on the Everyday Hero website. It can be customised with your photo and personal story. Then share your page, through social media and email, and let the event page do the rest. Another way is through Facebook. Create a fundraiser through your own page and share with your friends, who can donate in just a few taps. So whether you want to fundraise for a sporting event you are participating in or ask for donations in lieu of gifts at your next celebration, online fundraising might be the best way for you. Get social Share your story on your social media channels and post photos and videos to gain interest from your network. Remember to provide details on how to donate. THE SMALL PRINT Fundraising Terms & Conditions Authority to Fundraise To meet our obligations under Fundraising Laws, all fundraisers must complete our fundraising registration form and agree to our Terms and Conditions. Applications are reviewed by our Fundraising Team and an Authority to Fundraise certificate will be issued once approved. Raffles One of the most effective ways to raise funds can be through raffles. If your raffle has a total prize pool of under $5000, then you won t need a permit to run it. If the prize pool is $5000 and over, the Victorian Government requires you to apply for a minor gaming permit. However, no matter how big or small your raffle is please view the Raffle FAQs on the Victorian Government website before registering online with us. www.vcglr.vic.gov.au/gambling/raffle/licenseeresources/faqs Health and Safety Responsibilities We are always thankful to our fundraisers and donors, which is why your safety and wellbeing is a top priority. Please ensure you read over and adhere to your relevant councils health and safety laws and guidelines when organising your event. Permits and Insurance Please keep in mind things like: Public Liability Insurance - check with your venue if your event is covered under their policy or whether you will need to obtain one yourself. Your local council laws - check whether a permit is required to hold an event and whether a Food Handling Certificate is required if you are selling food.
