The role included providing family, individual, and group therapy; psychological assessment of a variety of presenting issues including trauma, cognitive and learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and additional mental health diagnoses; consultation to schools and mental health programs; training to schools and mental health groups on a variety of issues including Vicarious Trauma, Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment. This role also included supervision and training for graduate level interns and consultation to other agency programs. March 2003- March 2013 Clinical Consultant Allenbrook Homes for Youth 102 Allen Road South Burlington, Vermont 05403 Clinical Supervisor for one to two group homes serving youth ages 12-18. The programs operate under the Teaching Parent model of care for youth in need of long term residential treatment. The role included oversight of all clinical services, preparation of treatment plans and discharge reports, and consultation to providers. The programs serve a range of 7 to 14 clients. September 2003- Present Clinical Consultant Jean Garvin School 94 Harvest Lane Suite 203 Williston, VT 05495 Clinical consultant for a therapeutic school serving 24 youth in grades 7-10. This role includes providing monthly supervision and consultation to the clinical and educational staff. The work also includes periodic direct contact with students and treatment providers working with the youth to assess around mental health crises, psychological testing, and assessment of treatment needs. March 2000- September 2005 Program Director Hospital Diversion Northeastern Family Institute 486 Main Street Winooski, Vermont 05404 Program Director of a six bed short-term crisis stabilization program that serves youth ages 10-18. The role included 2
diagnostic assessment, consultation, treatment coordination, family therapy, group therapy, clinical supervision, program development, and administrative oversight. Additional services included outpatient individual therapy and outpatient psychological evaluations. This role also involved a two year collaboration with the University of Vermont to conduct ongoing research for program evaluation and to publish research findings. August 1999- May 2004 Psychological Evaluator/ Consultant Baird Center for Children & Families 1110 Pine Street Burlington, Vermont 05401 Psychological evaluation and consultation provided to the residential programs of this community mental health center. Clients were typically of ages 6-13 and were in an emergency bed, 60 day inpatient assessment, or long term residential program. Evaluations and consultations were provided as needed. July 1999- March 2003 Private Practice Clinician Matrix Health Systems 86 Lake Street Burlington, Vermont 05401 Clinician in a private practice setting for approximately 10 hours per week. The services included individual therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, psychological evaluation, and consultation. Clients ranged in age from 4 to 60. July 1999- March 2000 Assistant Director Centerpoint Adolescent Treatment Center 81 West Canal Street Winooski, Vermont 05404 Assistant Director for an agency that operates a therapeutic school and an outpatient substance abuse treatment program. The role involved oversight of the therapeutic school, which included program administration, clinical supervision, coordination of services, program development, family therapy, individual therapy, group therapy, parent training, and therapeutic case management. Pre-doctoral intern in a community mental health center dedicated to children and adolescents. This role was a full time commitment to provide individual therapy, family therapy, and psychological assessment for those aged 3-22. The internship included weekly individual supervision, group supervision, and seminars on a variety of topics related to trauma and the treatment of children. The family therapy for this internship often included the provision of care in the client s home. September 1996- June 1998 Practicum Student Indiana University of Pennsylvania Practicum student working part time in several university and local clinics. The training included a year in the family and couples clinic, one and a half years in a community mental health center working with children, one and a half years in the college counseling center providing counseling to students of the university, one year in the assessment clinic, and one year in the stress and habit disorders clinic. A large portion of this work included live supervision from the clinical team. The assessment clinic included psychological testing of children, college students, and those involved in court ordered custody evaluations. The court evaluations included court testimony. One aspect of the community mental health center practicum was a 2 year project to co-lead a group for men who were convicted of domestic violence and court ordered to treatment. In addition, a six month practicum took place in inner city Pittsburgh working in the Western Psychiatric Institute to provide outpatient diagnostic assessments and group therapy to children on the inpatient psychiatric unit. 4
