March 5, 2014 General meeting at Sunrise Café Meeting called to order at 7:30 by Dorine Taggart. Attendance: Donna Berardelli, Jamey Robbins, Mel & Anne Gahley,, Mike Austin, Duane & Donna Staack. Andrea & Butch Mowdy, Lois Cant, Randi McCallum, Wade kirskey, Karaly Maione, Lois Burnelle, Connie Evans & John Taggart. TREASURER REPORT: The checking account has $4,768.71. The scholarship fund has $2,483.72 Donna B/ Mel moved that the treasurer report be Approved & Mike be allowed to pay the incoming bills. The motion passed unanimously. DOUBLE POINT COMMITTEE: Wade reported the two winter shows netted $722.00 cleared $572.00 this money will be used to fund awards for the double point show. Wade reported the judges were hired & 3 contracts have been returned & given to Mike. The arena, show bill & plans are finished. The stall fees are set at $25.00. The topic of inviting 4-H kids with mustangs to come to the double point show was discussed. Donna S /Jamey moved to provide special classes for this group of 4-Hers with an award. The classes will be halter, showmanship & in-hand trail. The motion passed unanimously. Dorine brought up the business we delayed at the Feb meeting because Wade was not present. Wade s orginal request was for $1,000.00 for awards for the spring double point show. After discussion Donna S & Andrea moved the amount of $600.00 be awarded to Wade for use in the Spring double point show. The motion passed unanimously. EPRB / LOC committee: Karaly gave a report on the rules meeting held Sunday March 2. The EPRB/LOC met March 2. We elected a co chair - John Lindley. We discussed the 2014 judges list. At that time only 5 judges met the criteria as defined in our rule book to be published as judges. ( Attended a clinic in the last three years, pay club dues, take judges test) We have two judges who needed to attend the clinic this Spring to maintain their status as ISHSA judges and did not do so. At this time they are considered off the list. However we have been working with them to possibly grant a variance due to complications that prevented them from attending the clinic. After analysis of supporting information provided by Ted, we unanimously voted to grant him a variance but he has since declined. The offer is still on the table to him should he change his mind. Sarah is supposed to be sending me a request for a variance. Next we discussed the judges clinic. With the grant from the horse council it came out financially ahead by $561.51 dollars. The attendance by our ISHSA judges was similar to past years clinics with or with out nationally carded judges doing the presentation. Currently we are behind on getting our judges list up to date due to the clinic being held four months later than usual. I have contacted our judges to request they update their information, take the judges test and pay their club dues with little or no response from them. I have asked that our current list of only 5 judges be published on our web sight to try to spur some response. We had a unanimous vote to move the clinic back to October and are requesting permission to hold a clinic this October to keep our judges current as well as keeping the judges who attend to keep their POAC and AMA cards up to date. The POAC & AMA cut off for renewal is in December. We have received constructive advice from some of our judges that we plan to follow up on. We plan on doing a clinic in house this year. Donna b /Jamey moved that the ISHSA clinic be moved to Oct 2014 with the funding. This passed by the majority. Newsletter: Information for the newsletter must be to Andrea by Friday after the meetings. Andrea asked for input. Give her a shout out. Dorine would still like more input on her survey about several things pertaining to our double point, year end awards & banquet. Let her know your ideas. SCHOLARSHIP: Donna B stated not much news, Connie G the chairman was not present. A list of numbers sold & available need to be put on the web. All checks need to be delivered to Mike. Jamey will contact Connie G. AWARDS COMMITTEE & BANQUET COMMITTEE: Mel /Karaly moved report be delayed because Deneen wasn t present. NEW BUSINESS: There are now 12 shows approved which is still down from 17 last year. Do you want to do a fund raiser, call Anne for information. OLD BUSINESS: Dorine reviewed the 2013 show year. The finances of the club were discussed in detail with several solutions tossed out. Mel / Karaly moved the meeting be closed & proceed to the executive meeting. Next meeting April 2, 2014 7:30pm at the Sunrise Café. Submitted by Secretary Anne Phillips-Gahley
