VINTAGE to VOGUE Shirley s Corner Dear Circle Members, It is an exciting time to be with the Circle for Children as we celebrate our legacy. We are moving forward with the Circle mission by sponsoring a new charity, Wellspring Living. This has created new interest in our membership. New members wanting involvement with our Circle is very inspiring and creates vision and hope for our future outreach. You will be receiving the President s Packet in the mail shortly,membership forms are included. Please return your Membership forms ASAP. If you would like to have a President s packet mailed to a someone you would like to sponsor as a way to introduce them to the Circle, please contact Janie Kissling (janie.kissling@gmail.com) with the prospective members mailing information. July/August 2017 Lieutenant Governor of Georgia, Casey Cagle, to Serve as Honorary Ball Chair We are excited to announce that Lieutenant Governor of Georgia, Casey Cagle, will serve as Honorary Ball Chair for The Circle for Children 2018 fundraising ball Vintage to Vogue. A successful entrepreneur and respected former State Senator, Cagle made history in 2006 by becoming the first Republican elected to Georgia s second highest office, Lieutenant Governor. Georgia voters overwhelming re-elected Cagle as Lieutenant Governor in 2010 and 2014. Cagle s family has called Georgia home for seven generations. His leadership has been recognized beyond the state of Georgia as well. After being named one of the 100 Most Influential Georgians, Cagle was one of only four public servants in the country to be honored by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools with the Champion for Charters Award. BALL CHAIR NEWS I hope everyone is having an exciting summer and enjoying all the blessings it brings beautiful flowers, singing frogs, laughing children, lightning bugs, and my favorite, VACATION. Now that I ve had mine, I need to get back to work! We have scheduled the first meeting to discuss ideas for the upcoming Vintage 2 Vogue ball for Tuesday, August 15 th from 11:30 1:30 at the Atlanta Country Club in Marietta GA. I will help support a new membership initiative aimed at increasing our membership in order to ensure the Circle will be a long-lasting organization of progressive women for many years to come I ve always been a helping hand and hope to continue to encourage young women to give of themselves to those who are less fortunate. At the Center for Children and Young Adults (CCYA) Believe to Achieve Awards Luncheon, Joshua Elias received a Circle for Children Scholarship Certificate and a commemorative plaque from Elizabeth Cooper, Co-Chair of the Scholarship Committee. Joshua, who will be attending Reinhardt University, gave a wonderful speech at the luncheon, demonstrating once again why he is such a deserving recipient of the Circle s support. The Scholarship Committee will keep up with and mentor all the scholarship recipients this school year as they continue their studies at colleges and universities in Georgia.
