Outreach Committee - Opioid presentation to local high schools - last year we presented to two local high schools in the spring about the dangers of using opioids illegally - very rewarding experience reaching out to teenagers - great opportunity to work on presentation skills to a different age group

A Pharmacist s Role As a clinical pharmacy practitioner (CPP) seeing patients in clinic, you begin to ask: What is the benefit/risks of duplicate therapy (i.e. 2 antidepressants)? Which agent is the patient seeking the most benefit? How should we cross-taper one of the antidepressants to simplify the regimen? What should we communicate with the PCP in regards to duplicate therapy? How does a patient s medical comorbidities and other medications affect/contribute to their current psychiatric state? How can we either simply the regimen, choose less expensive but effective agents, and/or investigate options for patient to be able to afford her medications (PAPs, drug discount cards, picking generics with similar mechanisms)?
