Drug & Alcohol Testing in Canada Point of Care Testing
Introduction We are the leading Canadian innovator of diagnostic testing products and services Verify Diagnostics has assisted governments, corporations, correctional facilities, and hospitals in the development of their own drug testing programs in full compliance with Canadian standards. Not only have our clients realized an increase in program consistency and efficiency, but also a decrease in costs when they chose to administer their own drug and alcohol testing program. We are not paid consultants. We are industry experts who can help co- ordinate program administrators, supplies, laboratory facilities, medical review officers, and your frontline personnel. Accuracy & Compliance Protecting the legal defensibility of your drug testing program and protecting the safety and rights of every person involved is of paramount importance. This is accomplished by following both Canadian law and the best practices that have been industry- developed over the past 10 years, including: 1. Protect everyone s rights and safety. 2. Follow proven procedures. Whether you re performing on- site drug tests or laboratory- based tests, the collector must follow correct specimen collection processes and procedures. 3. If the program includes the use of on- site testing devices (In- vitro Diagnostic Device (IVDD)), the use of high- quality, Health Canada Class 3 licensed devices is required.
Oral Fluid or Urine? ORAL Oral Fluid Point- of- Care- Tests (POCTs) can be performed by either males or females on male or female donors, which greatly reduces gender complications. Oral Fluid POCTs may yield more consistent results as it is very difficult to adulterate or substitute because sampling is directly observed by the collector. Oral fluid can detect drugs from immediately after the most recent use (THC), to up to approximately three days after use (Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Opiates, and PCP. There is only one Class 3 Oral Fluid device licensed in Canada - the Oratect device. Urine Urine POCTs are generally less expensive Urine POCT s are easier to customize with additional drug strips, like EDDP, the major Methadone metabolite. Urine POCT s can detect THC usage for up to approximately 14 days, vs about 12 hours for Oral Fluid. The other drugs of abuse can be detected for about 5 days on average for both Urine and Oral Fluid devices.
Point-of-Care-testing (POCT) Kits Testing devices are available in every possible configuration including single drugs, standard panels and custom panels. They can test samples such as urine, oral fluid and hair follicles, for drug and steroid use. Urine POCT We have chosen the One-Step DrugCheck line for three reasons: QUALITY RELIABILITY This U.S. made device is manufactured by an American company who has North American standards of Medical Device (Health Canada and FDA) quality control, and it shows in every cup and in every lot. The test strips are permanently attached to the inside of the cup and can t fallout or become mis-aligned when reading. The test strips are large and easy to read. EASY TO USE The large cup design (250 ml) permits easy sample collection. Your donor will void into the cup, replace the lid, and hand back to you. You simply remove the privacy label that covers the test strips, and read the results. No moving parts or extra steps involved. No keys to insert and activate. No open containers of urine to pour into the device. Collector has no exposure to urine.

When sampling, a visible line appears when you have a sufficient quantity for testing. It tests for six drugs of abuse, plus alcohol, if needed. No moving parts or extra steps involved.
