She recently went to the doctor as she has been feeling very tired and finding it difficult to concentrate on her studies. Clinically she appears pale and has shortness of breath on exertion. She was diagnosed with a gastric ulcer and iron deficiency anaemia. Her anthropometric measurements are as follows: Weight = 52 kg Height = 1.65m Waist circumference = 50 cm Hip circumference = 65 cm Her biochemical assessment revealed the following: Haemoglobin 10.7 g/dl (12.3-17 g/dl) 6.1 Carry out a complete anthropometric assessment on Miss J based on all the information that you have been given. [6] 6.2 Identify possible nutritional risk factors in this case. [4] 6.3 If you were to carry out a clinical examination on Miss J specifically looking at her finger nails what clinical signs of iron deficiency would you expect to see? [2] 6.4 What is the most likely cause of the iron deficiency anaemia in this case? [1] 6.5 The Doctor has decided to put Miss J onto an iron supplement.
