Mission Wellness Mission = District Mission To empower each student to succeed in life and contribute to society.
Vision To partner UCFSD with parents and the community to research, identify, and implement best practices that promote and support student health and wellness.

Wellness Standards Based on 7 Dimensions of Wellness Originally described in 1976 by Dr. Bill Hettler, co-founder of the National Wellness Institute, as 6 dimensions: physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, occupational, and social Environmental health was added later by other researchers
Wellness Standards To provide information, resources, and opportunities that increase mental/intellectual health To provide information, resources, and opportunities that increase physical health To provide information, resources, and opportunities that increase emotional health To provide information, resources, and opportunities that increase social health

Mental/Intellectual Health Using your mind to create a greater understanding of yourself Discovering your potential and sharing your gifts A commitment to lifelong learning, engaging in creative activities, learning new things, expanding knowledge, improving skills, seeking challenges, participating in stimulating creative and mental activities Problem solving, critical thinking, adaptation to change
Physical Health Health of the body, nurturing and caring for your physical being, disease prevention Having a flexible, aerobically fit body Implementing regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy diet, rejuvenating the body through rest and sleep, decreasing stress, developing body awareness Adopting healthful habits, while avoiding destructive habits
Emotional Health Awareness and ability to manage emotions and behaviors, mostly positive view of self, others, and life circumstances Ability to cope with stressors Acknowledgment and sharing of feelings Enthusiasm about life, self-esteem, self-acceptance Optimistic style of thinking Independence and interdependence
Social Health Ability to relate and connect with other people Establishing and maintaining meaningful relationships Utilizing healthy communication skills Maintaining respect toward yourself and others Participating in various social activities Creating a healthy support system
Environmental Health Maintaining and improving the well-being and integrity of the natural ecosystems that surround us Recognizing our responsibility for the quality of the air, water, and land around us Making a positive impact on our homes, communities, and planet Creating sustainable human and ecological communities Harmony with the natural world
