THE BEATLES The Beatles were an English rock band that became the most successful group of the 20th century. They contributed to music, film, literature, art, and fashion, made a continuous impact on popular culture and the lifestyle of several generations. Their songs and images carried powerful ideas of love, peace, help, and imagination evoking creativity and liberation. Their ideas contributed to breaking walls in the minds of millions, making a great impact on human history. In July of 1957, in Liverpool, Paul McCartney met John Lennon. Both were teenagers. Paul impressed John with his mastery of acoustic guitar, and was invited to join Lennon's group, The Quarrymen. George Harrison joined them in February of 1958. In 1959 they played regular gigs at a club called The Casbah. John Lennon dreamed up the band's final name, The Beatles, a mix of beat with beetle. In 1960 The Beatles toured in Hamburg, Germany. There they were joined by Ringo Starr. In Hamburg, The Beatles made their first studio work. From that moment on, they started giving concerts and recording songs and albums. And they became one of the most popular British bands in the world. During the sixties, The Beatles not only became a musical phenomenon, they affected the styles and fashions of the decade. They transformed the record industry as well. The Beatles played their last concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco on August 29, 1966 and their last public appearance was on top of the Apple building on January 30, 1969. After their break-up in 1970, they each enjoyed successful musical careers. Lennon died in 1980 after having been shot by a deranged former fan and Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001. McCartney and Starr remain active.

LET IT BE When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me speaking words of wisdom, let it be. And in my hour of darkness She is standing right in front of me Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Let it be, let it be. Whisper words of wisdom, let it be. And when the broken hearted people Living in the world agree, There will be an answer, let it be. For though they may be parted there is Still a chance that they will see There will be an answer, let it be. Let it be, let it be. Yeah There will be an answer, let it be. And when the night is cloudy, There is still a light that shines on me, Shine on until tomorrow, let it be. I wake up to the sound of music Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Let it be, let it be. There will be an answer, let it be. Let it be, let it be, Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

HEY JUDE Hey Jude, don't make it bad Take a sad song and make it better Remember to let her into your heart Then you can start to make it better Hey Jude, don't be afraid You were made to go out and get her The minute you let her under your skin Then you begin to make it better And anytime you feel the pain Hey Jude, refrain Don't carry the world upon your shoulders For well you know that it's a fool Who plays it cool By making his world a little colder Hey Jude, don't let me down You have found her, now go and get her Remember to let her into your heart Then you can start to make it better So let it out and let it in Hey Jude, begin You're waiting for someone to perform with And don't you know that it's just you Hey Jude, you'll do The movement you need is on your shoulder Hey Jude, don't make it bad Take a sad song and make it better Remember to let her under your skin Then you'll begin to make it better.
