Mission & Impact Statements Mission EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE. EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE TO MAKE POSITIVE CHOICES. LIVEmpowered (Formerly known as MAM) believes that every young person is LOVED, that they have intrinsic VALUE. By helping them understand that, they can be EMPOWERED to live a healthy life. We do this by providing PREVENTION EDUCATION and TRAINING in schools, communities, and churches on challenging topics such as: eating disorders, self-harm, addiction, depression, suicide prevention, anger management, teen pregnancy, body image, and more. We believe that poor choices are a direct result of misunderstanding one s value. Our goal is to equip young people to see that they have something unique and amazing to offer the world and help them access the resources they need while providing safe spaces where each individual can be heard. Background LIVEmpowered (Formerly know as MAM) was founded by Christy Brooks when she was pastoring young adults at her local church in 2008. The need for community for young women and men to come together and be understood was evident. She was regularly meeting young people the day after they did something that brought shame into their life. Having suffered from a lack of self worth and value growing up, Christy knows the struggles that young people face today are real and relational. Her mission is to instill truth in these areas and provide a safe place where young women and men can come together and talk about the struggles they are facing. Impact Last Year Accomplishments:In the 2018/2019 school year, the LIVEmpowered Meant to Be program was represented in 14 metro Nashville Public Schools, as well as some Williamson County Schools. We proudly work alongside the Community Achieves Program & with area partners to provide transformational classes to students on topics such as goal setting, mentorship, overcoming obstacles, & self esteem.we also provided our Community Empowerment program and suicide prevention program for more than 100 adults in the 2018/19 school year. Equipping these community leaders, parents, and teachers in working with young people and how to prevent suicide in their communities. LIVEmpowered is currently seeking new board members & is focused on growing internally as well as outwardly. Goals for the Current Year:LIVEmpowered also successfully rebranded and is currently focused on updating our Youth Empowerment Curriculum for schools and youth groups as well as creating a new target issues lesson plan that will directly discuss the target issues youth face today. We are also currently updating our Community Empowerment Program for community training, target issues and community partnerships training. We also are working with Community Achieves Program to help increase LIVEmpowered's program in Metro Nashville Public Schools.
