Summary of recent work/practice 500 words CPD profile 1.1 Profession: PHYSIOTHERAPY 1.2 CPD number: CPD004635 (PH35838) 2. Summary of recent work/practice. (April 2008- Mar 2010). I am a Musculoskeletal (MSK) Extended Scope Practitioner (ESP) working 33 hours. Upon till 6 months ago I worked in a primary care musculoskeletal triage service as an Upper limb ESP where I triaged, assessed and managed problematic specialist referrals form GP, Consultants and Allied health professionals. One afternoon/week I was seconded to a hospital physiotherapy department to develop pathway links, deliver training and maintain professional development. From August 2009 I have been based within East Lancashire Physiotherapy departments. My main responsibilities are; 1. To provide a strategic vision and clinical leadership for the triage and management of upper limb referrals. 2. Develop most appropriate pathways for using extended scope skills (injections, referrals for investigations etc ) from within physiotherapy, 3. Undertake a significant advanced complex clinical caseload to a high professional standard (70/30 split) in out patients incorporating advanced assessment of new patients, follow ups and joint review of complex patients not responding to treatment with junior colleagues. 4. Link with orthopaedic surgeons, upper limb service physiotherapy team, MSK service and orthopaedic physiotherapy team leader to review and develop upper limb pathways/ protocols. 5. Act as resource of upper limb expertise across Burnley Pendle and Rossendale identifying training needs with team leaders and developing teaching and training programmes for physiotherapy staff and other disciplines. 6. Be clinically involved in the new Drop-In service pilot scheme. 7. Take lead role in clinical and cost effectiveness governance domain and on MSK outpatient /upper limb related issues. I am accountable to the director of therapies.(250 words)
