Formative means that a student will receive feedback in a timely manner and apply this feedback in order to improve their learning throughout the duration of the teaching period. Summative means that the assessment item contributes to the overall assessment of required knowledge or/and skills or/and application of these in practice in order to demonstrate competency. For this subject, please note the specific requirements for each task and the required level of achievement expected in order to show satisfactory progress towards competency. Vocational Education & Training (VET) students are required to pass all pieces of summative assessment. The Assessment Schedule (due dates) is to be followed and students are to adhere to these dates unless they have legitimate grounds for extension or deferral (see Assessment Policy). Students who are deemed not yet competent for summative assessment will have two further opportunities for reassessment at a fee. All practical and theoretical assessments and reassessments must be completed and submitted by the 5 th May 2014 in order for the results to be released. During Semester, weeks 8, 9 and 10 there is an opportunity to provide feedback, via an online questionnaire, on eportal. The feedback provided by this survey and other procedures are valued by CNB, and will aid in identifying areas for growth and facilitating appropriate changes with the unit structure and delivery. Those wishing to provide feedback before week 8 or after week 10 regarding any aspect of an enrolled unit, are encouraged to follow the stages outlined in policy 9.1 of the Endeavour policy and procedures manual. There is further opportunity for feedback in Student Forums at the end of the Semester and via student representation. NOTE: On the satisfactory completion of all tasks listed above the learner will be deemed competent in this unit.
