Mary G. Hart Executive Director Empowering women to achieve economic independence has been the mission of Dress for Success since its inception in 1997. Proudly, our Palm Beaches affiliate, which opened its doors in 2010, has supported over 4,000 women toward this end, with 700 estimated to be served in 2018. Our most important message is that all of the services we provide professional attire, job readiness programs, and an ongoing network of support are designed to help women understand and appreciate their self-worth, and not only be prepared to enter the workforce, but to excel in all they do. We are reaching out to request your support as a Community Partner and join us in our mission. You will find the proposed levels of commitment on Page 6 along with the basic benefits. Our preference, of course, is to create a customized partnership with you in order to yield a return on investment that has meaning and impact for your organization and its stakeholders. While in the past we offered sponsorships for our individual initiatives, this year we re taking a more holistic approach so that a partner s support funds all of our undertakings. Your Community Partnership pledge is supplemented by funds raised by several events we host during the year, including our annual Style for Hope luncheon in the spring which boasts an attendance of over 400 guests, and our Shop for Success pop-up shop in the fall. Monies raised allow us to continue our iconic suiting program, our two job readiness series, and WAGE (Women Achieving Growth in Employment) a mentorship program to help working women know their rights in the workplace, manage work relationships and achieve financial literacy. An extraordinary group of more than 70 volunteers grease the wheels that keep all of these programs running and relevant. In the coming year it s critical for us to find a larger yet affordable new location for our headquarters, as we have outgrown the space that we are in. Dress for Success Palm Beaches is literally bursting at the seams! There s much to accomplish in 2018. Thank you in advance for your support. Together, we can work toward our vision of a world where women overcome poverty, are treated with dignity and respect, and are strengthening their families and shaping their communities! 2 P age
Our Vision Our vision is a world where women do not live in poverty. We strive for a world where all women are financially independent, are treated with dignity and respect and are directly impacting their lives and those of their families. We aspire to a world that fully harnesses the power of women and recognizes their role in economic sustainability. Our Mission The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Our Beliefs Every woman has the right to realize her full potential and achieve financial independence in a more egalitarian world. We believe that with the proper education, tools and action, this world is possible. Poverty often affects women the most, and its effects on them and their families can be long-lasting. Therefore, addressing women s needs is central to improving the quality of life for not only that woman but also her family, future generations and her community. In fact, recognizing the significant role of women in economic development is the smart thing to do, as well as being socially and morally right. We believe that achieving gender equality is imperative to developing a sustainable and just world for all, which is possible by acknowledging the crucial role that women play in the world economy. We believe that by building up a woman s agency and knowledge, better synergies between gender equality and economic sustainability are realized, enabling her to generate a long-term impact in both her private and public life. 3 P age
WHAT WE DO Dress for Success Palm Beaches is proud to serve the women of Palm Beach County. After opening our doors in April of 2010, we have grown exponentially and have served over 4,000 women! Our numbers and outreach continue to grow rapidly in Palm Beach County. We have implemented two job readiness courses for our clients, as well as have established and grown Y.E.S! Palm Beaches, our very own networking group for young, professional women under 40 in Palm Beach County. Next Step is our job readiness course for young women, ages 18 to 25, who are at risk or are aging out of foster care and lack the skills and abilities to obtain employment and break the cycle of poverty. Our mission with Next Step is to teach young women how to build a life foundation based on self-knowledge and self-worth and give them the tools and network of support which will enable them to navigate life independently while securing a stable future. These young women gain professional skills, learn to accelerate their job search and build confidence through weekly training sessions, one-on-one career coaching, and networking in a supportive environment. Sixty percent of the graduates from this program have obtained employment prior to or within 30 days of completing the program. New Directions, like Next Step, is a job readiness course for women over age 25 who are either unemployed or underemployed. This course is designed to help women understand their natural abilities and transferable skills. Each participant completes a personality assessment, customizes their résumé for different positions, learns to navigate LinkedIn and other social media for job leads, and much more. In addition, each participant receives one-on-one coaching with a career coach and practices building their own personal network in a small, supportive environment with other women. Sixty-five percent of participants found a job either before the end of the program or within 30 days of completion. WAGE (Women Achieving Growth in Employment), is a program that empowers working women to succeed. Program topics include managing your career and setting goals, knowing your rights in the workplace, managing relationships at work, financial literacy, and discovering the leader within. 4 P age
