#my365story November 4 6, 2016 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10
Hey fellow youth leaders! I pray this day finds you full of life and anticipation for what God is doing in your life and community. We can t wait to be together with you soon, on November 4-6th, for this year s 365 Youth Convention! If you have already begun to promote 365 in your youth ministry, I m guessing you may have encountered questions like I have from youth and parents about our new name. I want to remind you of the why behind it. We have adopted a new name to be clear about who we are and why we gather as we walk into a new season. Our desire is for youth in Indiana to come together not for the sake of an event, but as an opportunity to glimpse the bigger stories of the Church of God that connect to the stories God is writing in their lives all 365 days a year. We are seeking to equip students with tools that help them journey with Christ long after they leave the city on Sunday afternoon. We pray that God will move in our midst as we gather together for a weekend...and even more, we pray that we will launch youth who will be agents of the Kingdom in their everyday lives. This year, our focus will be centered on Galatians 1:10, which reads, Am I now seeking human approval, or God s approval? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still pleasing people, I would not be a servant of Christ. As our YPC team (made up of youth from around the state) were processing how these words could influence their 365 stories, one team member said, It s a question to wake up and ask yourself every day, Am I trying to win the approval of others or of God? We pray that God may use these words, and the voices and experiences that will bring them to life, to begin a new chapter in the stories of our youth. In a phase of life steeped with questions like, Do I matter? and To which voice should I listen?, we pray our students will take steps toward freedom and identity rooted in Christ. In this packet, you will find all the information you need in regards to registration, schedule, and other details to help your group prepare for the weekend. Please note there is a change in hotel registration. This year, you are responsible for booking your own hotel rooms, a process that should be familiar to any of you who took a group to IYC this summer. Another change we are excited about is the invitation of more voices to the table, as each session will be led by a different speaker. We hope you will take note of the YPC application, and prayerfully consider students in your group who you may recommend to apply for the team. YPC has been an integral part of my 365 story since I joined the team as a 10th grader. Each year, the YPC teams set the theme verse, and we marvel at the ways God moves as they offer their unique gifts and leadership. Please let us know if you have questions, and take a moment to connect with other youth leaders on the Indiana CHOG Youth Leader s Facebook page, where leaders from around the state share idea, encouragement, and questions. Occasionally, we will post updates about 365 that may be helpful to you. We look forward to being together in person during our leader gathering before everything begins on November 4th, and hope you will plan to join us. Can t wait to see you soon!
