Extensive testing showed that Calcium sulfate poses no harmful effect on aquatic life and does not accumulate in the food chain. Exposure Calcium sulfate has to be considered as a substance that is omnipresent due to its natural occurrence and its numerous uses by the general public and a number of industries. Furthermore, plaster of Paris has been used in the immobilization of broken bones and is not known to have been associated with any toxic effects, despite intimate skin contact, for periods of the order of one month, over considerable areas of skin. Based on the health assessment Calcium sulfate does not give rise to any particular concern thus exposure is considered to be without risk.
