They only eat for fuel have you noticed? They ll eat two bites of a cookie and set it down. Their body tells them when to stop sometimes after only a few bites. It s a clean connection. Are you cleaning your plate the way mom told you even though it makes you feel over-stuffed? Do you wait until you re absolutely starving and crazy before eating? Would you leave the house without food for later? (Not with a real child, because you want her to be happy and easy to be with!) Your body has this same wisdom inside it. And you can nurture it as you would a child. You just have to take this one step, to affirm that you re worth it. If you re a parent, obviously your child is so important, you monitor her all the time. You put her to bed before she gets overtired, you feed her before school so she can think. (In fact if you re a parent, your child is often your number one priority but that s a key mistake. Why?,,,) Because you need to be the number one priority in your life. This is not selfish. It s healthy you re not of best service to others otherwise. Self care is critical. It s why they always instruct you to reach for your own oxygen mask on the airplane, before assisting your child. Oxygen is like life. If you don t have enough life in you, how are you going to serve others and nourish yourself? So if you work the course we re proposing, you won t be on a diet.
