Felicia Hi! I m Felicia and I m 12 years old. I love movies I could watch them all day. I like everything from cartoons to action comedies. But I m not crazy about horror movies. If I could choose to be a movie character, I d be a wizard. Or like a girl wizard. Then I could make my wheelchair fly. I was born with a spinal cord injury, so I have to use a wheelchair. But that s not as big a deal as you might think. Keep reading and you ll see why. Bye!
Great news! Our whole class is going on a camping trip in the middle of May! Yes! Yes! Hooray! Are there showers there? Showers? Hahaha! We ll even have to poop in the woods!
Teacher! I can t go. I don t think there s a way You guys are so silly! Everyone poops! Even the king does! It s perfectly natural!
How was school today? The class is going on a camping trip, but I can t go. I don t see how I can manage toilet stuff Of course you can go! We just have to get used to our routines with Navina, which we got from the doctor last week. We have two months, we can do this together!
The class is gathering to head on the camping trip Look! Here comes Felicia!
I m so glad you could make it, I would have missed you! Me too!
Food starts breaking down as soon as I chew it. When I swallow, it ends up in my stomach. It stays there for three hours, being dissolved into a thick soup
In the small intestine, nutrients from the food are transferred into my bloodstream. The small intestine is over 16 feet long! It takes about six hours for the food to go through it to the large intestine. This is where fluids and salt are absorbed. It takes quite a long time. After one to three days in the large intestine, the food turns into poop and gradually ends up at the rectum. That s when I feel that I have to go to the bathroom.
1. Bowel full time to go to the toilet! 2. Insert the catheter and fill the balloon with air 4. Wait a few minutes 5. Water and poop comes out
3. Pump water into the bowel Let me tell you how Navina helps me. Navina is a bowel irrigation system that lets me go to the bathroom regularly, just like everyone else. It lets me empty my bowel using a catheter and plain water. Easy as pie. At first it felt kind of weird it took a few weeks for me to really learn the technique and for my body to get used to the new routine. Even though I thought it was hard and complicated at first, I m glad my mom insisted. She promised it would get better and better. And it did! Now I don t have to worry so much about toilet issues. I can go to school, hang out with my friends and go to sleepovers without worrying about accidents. 6. Wash your hands
