OVERVIEW Kick Butts Day is a day of activism that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco at more than 1,000 events planned by independent organizers across the United States and around the world. March 15 th, 2017

TOBACCO-FREE KIDS Kick Butts Day is a project of the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, a leading force in the fight to reduce tobacco use & it s deadly toll in the United States and around the world. We work to save lives by advocating for public policies that prevent kids from smoking, help smokers quit and protect everyone from secondhand smoke.

TAKING DOWN TOBACCO

OVERVIEW Our comprehensive training program allows us to educate, empower and engage youth in the fight against tobacco through both online and in-person trainings. Our goal is to engage new youth in the fight against tobacco and provide in-depth training to existing advocates to take their advocacy to the next level.

Intro/101: Taking Down Tobacco Advanced: Train the Trainer Core 4 Electives Incentives

LITMOS: Mobile friendly training platform incorporating interactive, self-paced learning courses

HOW DOES IT WORK?

ALL TRAININGS ARE FREE Available to youth leaders and adult allies Self-paced Narrated Interactive with quizzes, activities and downloadable resources Fact-checked and reliable Available online OR in-person

Taking Down Tobacco (101) 1 hour (self-paced) Content includes: the toll of tobacco, emerging products, industry predatory marketing, and power of youth voices to fight tobacco.

Train the Trainer 90 minutes (self-paced) Content includes: preparing, localizing, and delivering the training Facilitator guide provided with downloadable materials and resources.

Advanced Trainings (Core 4) Messaging Matters Mastering the Media Informing Decision-Makers Activities that Kick Butts

Incentives Completed courses and actions earn points Points result in gear, activity kits, and minigrants to conduct trainings and activities

HOW CAN I USE IT? Youth event organizers complete Taking Down Tobacco to get ready for Kick Butts Day Adult allies and/or youth leaders become certified trainers by completing Train the Trainer and provide trainings as a Kick Butts Day event. Organizers complete the Core 4 to supercharge their skills in anticipation of Kick Butts Day.

HOW CAN I USE IT? Use Taking Down Tobacco in your work yearround by providing the trainings to students by either: 1. Sending them to takingdowntobacco.org to sign-up and complete online OR 2. Becoming a certified trainer and training youth in your school or community

OVERVIEW The Youth Advocates of the Year Awards honor top young leaders from across the country individuals who have fought hard to promote tobacco prevention legislation, expose tobacco marketing to kids and keep peers from using tobacco.

AWARDS (1) National Winner (HS) - $5,000 scholarship + $500 grant (4) Regional Winners (HS) - $2,500 scholarship + $500 grant (1) Group Winner (MS or HS) - $2,500 grant Applications due January 29 th, 2017
