Student Challenge Met with Chandler to discuss the challenge. Hoping to find assistance in leading the challenge this year or helping as a judge. The question is an air question this year. Please let Mike Nelson know if you re interested in assisting here. b. Abstracts deadline has passed. 40 abstracts received. On the air side, we got 9 directly related to air; there is solid waste 3 4; some general ones (dealing with interns and media); then on the water side there was a lot of stormwater abstracts. The types of abstracts on the air side include modeling related, permitting options, updated EPA enforcement; Deleted: March 1

some on the agency side related to Tempo, overview of new online services; using the control equipment rule (from the MPCA); case studies on permitting (from Andrew). If you want to be on the list to review abstracts, let Mike N know. 4. Programs Planning Update (See Attached) (Tony) 5. Looking for new chair here (possibly multiple to help divide the role). iii. Action Items 1. All members to help identify new chair for this position 2. Tony to send out the description for this role to the group. 3. Tony to connect with Cindy McComas to see if she has any insights on how our groups can interact. 7. Other Business: a. Jeff Smith shared that agency has been hearing recently comments about consultants sharing thoughts about avoiding building facilities in Minnesota due to the permitting processes. Wondering if AWMA as an organization should help facilitate discussion in this area. Ideas include 2

having a forum for information exchange for industry and consultants to share challenges as well as the agency to share information that these groups might not be aware of. Possibilities include a single event, or a series of events (perhaps incorporate an event at COE to draw a larger industrial crowd either to participate, or simply to provide a summary of the previous events i. Need to keep the discussion neutral ii. Try to keep event positive and productive iii. Jeff, Cassidy, Mike H, and Alissa offered to help coordinate/lead event. 8.
