Volume 36, #12 December, 2004 President's Message December is here and we have already had a little dusting of snow. The weatherman says though that we are still going to get some mild temperatures. That is, if you can believe him. The weatherman is the only guy that can be wrong 50% of the time and still keep his job. Even Frank Solich had a better record than that! December is time for me to say goodbye as your President. I want to take this opportunity to thank so many people of the Meadowlark for making this a fun progressive year of growth for our club. I was very fortunate in having a great hard working group of Officers and Directors working with me and I want to thank them for their efforts and support. To all the committees and other people that contributed to the operation of the club throughout the year, my wholehearted thanks also goes to you. And to the general membership, your support and participation in the many activities of the Meadowlark this year is very much appreciated and thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve. Last, I have to thank Henry s Lady for providing Karen and I the opportunity to meet so many nice people of the Meadowlark and have lots of fun. I don t quite know what attracted me to her her personality, nostalgia or her looks but it has been a great experience. I suppose we all have our different reasons for having such affection for our Model A s. Now is the time to look forward to next year. In serving with Lee for a year now, I know he is going to do a super job as your President. His fellow Officers and Directors are just the right ingredients to add to the recipe of a great year for the Meadowlark. You have done a good job of electing experience with a healthy dash of newcomers. Folks that is how the Meadowlark has grown over the years. The experience gets passed from person to person, each bring their own unique contribution to the club. I want to wish them all the very best in leading our club. You and I have an important part to play to. Our support and participation in the activities of the club is an important source of encouragement for our leaders as well as enjoyable and uplifting for us. The Meadowlark is made up of quality people and we can all look forward to lots of fun and excitement in 05. Speaking of next year. Our annual banquet is on the evening of January 8 th at the original Caniglia s Restaurant. As generations of people have discovered, the food is out of this world good. We plan to fill you up and as a finishing touch we have a very funny lady in Marry Maxwell to help us all take a look at the lighter side of life and have a good laugh at ourselves. Come and join in the good food and fun. Do you suppose we could get the entire club there to enjoy the camaraderie? Are you looking for a unique gift for someone? Our calendars and float pens will fit the ticket. The beautiful calendars for next year feature wonderful paintings by Dale Freyer. Folks, if you have not seen these paintings before, you have a unique treat in store. Dale is truly talented and puts our Model A s in wonderful nostalgic scenery. These calendars will give much enjoyment throughout the year. Our Float Pens are guaranteed to please everyone. This little gift is just what you need to write down all those important thoughts you are going to have next year. They will make a great stocking stuffer. You can order either gift through the mail or at our next meeting. But time is running out. Get your order in now. I want to thank everyone for supporting our Food Bank program throughout the year. At our last meeting we collected 68 units of food. Wintertime is coming which makes the program of distributing food to the less fortunate even more important. Please remember the Food Bank at our December meeting. During this busy holiday season please don t forget to stop and take a moment to say a prayer for all the good things that have happened in your life this year, for those in need and for peace throughout the world. Thank you for your support this year, Don

Nebraska Museum of History Tour We had another great tour to the Nebraska Museum of History in Lincoln. It started out a little bumpy but things smoothed out from there. The museum was quite interesting with exhibits on Indians, things that went on in Nebraska during WWII and Vietnam. There is a quilt exhibit and of course products that were and still are made in Nebraska. After our knowledge fact finding we headed over to the East campus for some Nebraska made ice cream.
