After the course, students will be able to understand the basic principles of plastic and reconstructive surgery. The students will be integrated into our resident team, to participate in daily rounds, the operating room, the emergency room, and the outpatient clinic. They will also get a hands-on experience on some of the minor surgical procedures in the realm of plastic and reconstructive surgery. As students will be considered as regular members of the resident team, night duty on a designated day of the week is encouraged to all participants. In weekly clinics, in consultation with the attendings and senior residents, student clerks will be encouraged to see and consult with patients, whenever possible. They will also be given an opportunity to follow these patients in the operation, and also in the rounds. In the operating room, the students will learn suturing skills and participate in cases, as appropriate. The students will also be offered an opportunity to present a case each week, regarding a case of their preference, in a 15-20 minute Power Point presentation with a case review.
