Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) Neighborhood Service Organization s (NSO) compassionate and professional staff members provide services that have impacted countless children, youth, adults, seniors, families and communities, since 1955. NSO s empowering programs and services provide assistance for: older adults with mental illness; children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities; youth leadership and advocacy training; year-round workforce development for youth and young adults; homeless recovery services; housing development and neighborhood revitalization; community outreach for psychiatric emergencies; call hotline for emergency shelter and housing resources in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park; training; and volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups and organizations. MAN IN THE CITY Sculpture Project The Man in Sculpture Project is comprised of 30 sculptures currently located on the rooftops throughout the city of Detroit. The project is as much about the sculptures as it is about the people and locations involved in the project. Each sculpture was installed in a location based on the architecture of the building, the building s significance in the city of Detroit and the relationship to other sculpture locations in the project. John Sauve has been called the Man In The City. He is at heart an artist; a sculptor, a non-profit leader of his own Sauvé Art Foundation, a community activist and teacher to inner-city children through his art programs. His sculptural work was recently shown at the Chicago Sculpture International Outdoor Exhibition in 2012, which included 55 large-scale outdoor sculptures from around the world, and was again shown at the Krasl Art Center Biennial Sculpture Invitational in 2012 in St. Joseph, MI. Sauve s most interesting work is an on-going sculpture project - Man In The City - which has been turning heads throughout downtown Detroit. NSO MAN IN THE CITY EXPERIENCE The NSO MAN IN THE CITY EXPERIENCE (MICX) is a celebration of art and service creating an art experience and fundraising event to benefit the programs and services of NSO. Using a wood cut-out of the Man In The City, local and nationally renowned artists, celebrities, community leaders and NSO consumers will create their vision of The Man In The City using design materials of their choice. These one-of-a-kind creative expressions made within our community will be displayed at the MICX where they will be available for purchase during the event s silent auction. All auction proceeds will benefit the programs and services of NSO. The MICX will take place at the Detroit Golf Club in Detroit on Thursday, May 16, 2019, 7:00 p.m. - 10 p.m. (VIP Reception 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.). Sponsorship packages, VIP and General Admission Tickets are available. Sponsorship packages and VIP Tickets include a Pre-Event Reception. All Guests will enjoy light hors d oeuvres, silent auction and entertainment. For questions, please contact NSO Corporate Development at 313-961-4890 or corporateaffairs@nso-mi.org.
