Since 2003, is responsible for the tissue bank of thoracic oncology,thanks to which it was possible to study the role of some genes in carcinogenesis in lung cancer: "Multiple alterations of the Notch pathway are mechanistically involved-in lung cancer," in collaboration with prof. Pece University of Milan,Italy. Since 2006,there is an ongoing feasibility study on the use of the da Vinci Robotic System in lung resection surgery for cancer. He is in charge of the research unit (model B) PRIN 2008: "Clinical and surgical evaluation of the da Vinci master-slave manipulator in Northern Italy" Since 2008 he participates in a study with the University of Bern on the role of stem cell in lung adenocarcinoma.
