Statements & Search Criteria Mission Our mission is to provide psychological treatment and health education that is effective and compassionate for Collier County children and their families who have suffered emotional trauma.the IMAGINE Children s Health Center is a not-for-profit corporation established to treat emotional trauma in school-age children. Emotional Trauma symptoms are seen in children who suffer from anxiety, ADHD, autism, depression, suicidal ideation, stress, low self-esteem, self-destructive behavior, sleep disorders, or grief. Emotional trauma can effect children from all socio-economic groups and be the result of multiple causes, including divorce, death of a loved one, parental military service, illness, nutritional deficiency, neglect, abuse, or a traumatic event. Our mission is to provide psychological treatment and health education that is effective and compassionate for Collier County children and their families. In order to expand to a facility that will house treatment and education rooms, offices for Dr. Christy Cugini - Medical Director, Dr. Molly Barrow - Executive Director and staff, spaces for child testing and play observation, we need the assistance of donations. Our program that is in keeping with the goals of Beautiful Minds to coordinate and expand mental health services for our children. The specific program needs are to lease, equip, and open a 1500 sq. ft. counseling and treatment facility designed to provide the best environment to facilitate diagnosis, education, counseling and treatment for emotionally traumatized school-age children. The facility will be located in Collier County in the medically underserved area west of Livingston Rd. and north of Immokalee Rd. designated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a primary medical care Health Professional Shortage Area. IMAGINE Children s Health Center will provide counseling for one hundred emotionally traumatized children with medical supervision to include mental, physical, and nutritional treatments. IMAGINE will provide hurting children with an opportunity to avoid lifelong suffering and to function again at their highest level in school, at home and with friends. As the director of IMAGINE, Dr. Barrow will use her twenty-five years of licensed counseling experience and research to improve a child's mental and physical health, their choices, their self-esteem, and social interaction with family and friends. Dr. Molly Barrow has been using intensive psychotherapy, debriefing, self-esteem building, nutritional counseling, and psychotropic medication referrals when indicated for acute and chronic emotional trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other disorders since opening her practice in Naples in 1988. Barrow has counseled thousands of children from five years of age up to their adulthood and even the next generation of their own children. Background Imagine Children's Health Center is the concept of founder Dr. Molly Barrow. Four years in the planning and development, the mental health protocol is designed to help traumatized children return to normal and productive lives. Impact Goals What are your organization's long-term strategic goals? Our goal is to create and maintain a treatment center for traumatized children and help to educate families about good parenting, diet and exercise that can contribute to mental health. Strategies What are the major strategies you will do to accomplish your goals? Our strategy to accomplish our goals to obtain the building and equipment and to begin helping children as soon as possible. Capabilities What are your organization s capabilities for doing this? Dr. Molly Barrow holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and has treated Collier County families for over 25 years. Her protocol is based on Nobel Prize-winning science. Dr. Cugini is a medical doctor with a great love for children. Indicators What indicators do you use to measure progress? We will measure and test children and report our findings. Progress What have and haven t you accomplished so far? Our first fundraiser was "Walk for IMAGINE" and raised $4500 and gained a great deal of publicity.
