Institute of Nuclear Engineering (IEN), in Rio de Janeiro, RJ. Institute of Energetic and Nuclear Research (IPEN), in São Paulo, SP. CRCN in Recife All Institutes of CNEN act in the training and qualification of the researchers, technologists, analysts and technicians of CNEN and in the dissemination of technical-scientific information for researchers, professionals and students engaged in the nuclear area.

The Institute of Radiation Protection and Dosimetry (IRD) and The Regional Training Center (IRD/IAEA)

Our Mission To act with excellence in the areas of radiation protection, dosimetry and metrology, generating and disseminating knowledge and technology for the safe use of ionizing radiation, aiming at the improvement of the quality of life in the Country.

Permanent Objectives To carry out scientific research and to develop technologies in the areas of radiation protection and metrology of ionizing radiation; To provide technical support and assays to the regulatory authority in the conformity evaluation process to the CNEN safety standards of the radioactive and nuclear facilities; To assure the traceability of measurements for the units related to the ionizing radiation of the International System to the National and International Metrology Networks;

Permanent Objectives To maintain a team trained and integrated to respond to radiological and nuclear emergency situations in Brazil; To promote the qualification of human resources in the areas of radiation protection and metrology of ionizing radiation; To offer non regulatory services of calibration, assays and inspection.

Areas of Work Environmental radiological protection, Radiological protection of workers occupationally exposed, Radiological protection of patients submitted to procedures of nuclear medicine, radio diagnostics or radiotherapy, Metrology of ionizing radiation, Response to emergency situations and accidents.
